The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Well, there have to be somewhere. This made me think, every Thursday, there are some day laborers on the corner of Cooper Rd and Metroflex parking lot, they're always practically walking towards the truck when I turn in there, I usually think about picking a few up for the day, bringing them back and having them do the work.

Well, damnit again!!! After the workout, I soaked in the tub, then got out of the tub, and while putting on some shorts I had this intense pain in my chest again, like before with the strain/pull. I was only putting on shorts, damnit. This time it was bad, I laid in bed, and it hurt so bad I couldn't even get any sleep, I couldn't move, at all. Finally had to just go to the doctor about it. Got lucky, the Dr I saw has a long background in lifting, bodybuilding, sports medicine and sports rehab. Seemed to be a pretty cool guy. He moved my arms around, poked around on the chest and back area, had me do several things checking for pain, I didn't figure it was a tear, and it's not, it's a strain. Can't do anything for a week, then depending on how it feels, can start lifting again lightly. Taking some anti inflammatory meds for a good while, even after the pain is gone. It hurts to move, sucks rolling over, sucks getting out of bed A LOT, even if I don't use my right arm to get up, it still hurts a lot. It really sucks laying here, not doing a damn thing except...laying here.

That sucks, but on the bright side it's nothing serious. I guess you have a week to devote to diet and cardio?

Shame to hear about the strain, you were making solid progress. Good luck with the recovery, hope you get back to things fast.

Thanks Luna! I'll be back before you know it. Only a week off lifting, hopefully it'll just go like a deload week and everything will be good to go. Will just up the cardio for the next few days, enjoy the refeed and then get back under the bar.

Just enjoy the deload, continue on your diet and cardio. Before you know it, you'll be right back at it in a couple of weeks.

It was ruled out. The area that it's at, the pain described, several tests and such all ruled this out. It crossed the DRs mind, but after several things he said we need not even worry about that. I believe it was originally injured doing dips negative.

AM Weight 349.6. Feeling mighty good about it. Even after all the "crap" I had yesterday. Really wasn't crap, I ate pepperoni, a few protein bars, eggs, protein shakes, wasn't really bad, but for laying in bed, it was about all I could muster.

Down 2 ounces today, which is alright. Progress is progress, that's all that matters anymore. Not worried about getting to a certain weight by any certain time anymore, as long as I'm making progress, even if it's slow on the scale, I'm still making good progress in the gym, and progress both ways? That's just double progress, and that's badass.

Sucks dick about the injury Mark. Very sorry to hear that as your strength has been godlike lately and your progress has never been better. Remember, this is just temporary. You'll be back in no time.

Yeah, I think about that quite a bit. It's hard to not WANT the scale to move, especially sitting around 350, sometimes I feel like I should just stop lifting and start being a cardio rhino, as opposed to cardio bunny, just didn't seem fitting...but then I think about the progress I've made, and my OVERALL goal, I don't want to be skinny fat, or look like a weasel, I wanna look strong as hell.

Yeah, I want to go lift right now, I wanted to lift yesterday, I'll want to life tomorrow. It's taking all I've got to not just go lift, even if just light. Thursday, if I keep progressing like I have been as far as feeling like I do, I'm going to try some active recovery type stuff, light lifts, stretching, moving about, nothing heavy nothing major. I should be feeling great by then since I've got carb days Wednesday and Thursday, I figured that'd help with recovery and repairs. Also been taking some Animal PM before bed, I don't care what people say about Universal, or Animal products, that shit makes you sleep like a baby and feeling great when you wake up. Also been taking cuts for the past few days, I'm ready to get back in the gym while taking it, that shit is good.

Sorry to hear about the strain, but ti gives you time to focus on other things that need nailing I spose!

Keep up the good work, had a flick through the journal and it's full of good stuff.
