Back in the garage now, had a really solid workout, felt good getting back in there.

    Close Grip Bench
    Bar x a lot
    135 x 10
    185 x 6
    225 x 4
245 x 5 x 3 sets All moved quick and good, felt wonderful.

    Add Sling Shot, Comp Grip
    225 x 10 Easy
    275 x 4
    315 x 2 Easy PR with slingshot

    Reverse Band
    315 x 5
    365 x 3
    405 x 1
415 x miss Got about half way, fought it, lost this time.

    Military Press
    135 x 11 + 3 drop set to 115 x 7 or so

    Barbell Curls
    65lbs x 12 x 5 sets

    Triceps Band pushdowns
    50 reps
    50 reps

    Pinwheel Curls
    35's x 10/arm
    30's x 10/arm x 4 sets

    Lateral Raises
    25's x 8 x 4 sets

Everything felt good, despite me being sick. I've got a toothache/infection, my right gums are all swollen and tender and hell. I've been taking antibiotics, sleeping when the pain allows me to, which at first wasn't at all, but cold water on the infection site + antibiotics + excedrin has really been helping me out. This past week I've felt like absolutely shit. Had a cold for a few days, that's gotten quite a bit better, had some stomach issues, and now this tooth issue, but the way I feel right now, hopefully I'm on my way back up, everythings getting better.

Diet Update: I think I'm dropping ketosis for now. I'm going to take the approach of more lifestyle change than keto right now. I'm gonna roll with this until at least December, see how it works but I'm just so sick and tired of the yoyo effect while doing carb cycling. I do great, then eat carbs, bloat, feel like shit, then lose again, but seeing that scale go up 10 pounds just rapes my mind. Then once I start my refeed I don't wanna stop refeeding. Mentally I'm not ready to stick to such a rigorous plan as keto right now. I need to set a solid foundation with a cleaner everyday eating lifestyle, can't stay on keto forever.

I just wanted to give you my 2 cents on this. When I started my weight loss in January 2010 I was in a similar boat. I needed to lose a bunch of weight but I didn't know which way should I go. I had been successful with Atkins and other "diets" in the past but at 35 I was fed up with yo-yoing between 275-300 pounds. I decided not to diet per se but to genuinely change my life and my eating habits permanently.

I figured if I used Keto, lo-this, lo-that, carb-cycling, or whatever that I would ultimately burn out, since the diet isn't sustainable. That's why people "diet" and lose weight then go off their diet and shoot back up. I think for someone who needs to lose some serious poundage over a moderate to long period of time I don't think these approaches are susatainble. Let's face it I wasn't 300 pounds because I ate nothing but strictly lean protein, fibrous vegetables and whole grains. I ate all of those things but I ate a ton of garbage foods too. I needed a long-term fix that I can use for life and I thought the strict diets I would burn out and I would quit and end up exactly where I started. Don't get me wrong, strict diet plans have their place and work but IMHO I think they work better for folks who are already in decent shape and have a decent lifestyle and eating habits trying to diet down a few pounds.

I think you are making a good call! You need a plan for life and keto is a good tool but not one I would want to use for my plan for life.

Thanks a ton for the input man. I really feel better taking on this route instead of looking for a specific diet.

Just wondering, how long does a bench session like that take? Lots of good work in there.

It takes about an hour to complete the entire session with Josh. If I'm by myself, I usually take a little longer because I've got time to analyze and rest a bit before attempting lifts. By myself I'm usually in there about an hour and a half, but I usually add more that what's written down.

That video just shows a very basic approach of what dieting should be at first. It's what I needed to see.

I have noticed increased speed off my chest, thus creating the ability to push quicker, heavier weight off my chest but I don't think it's soley due to the slingshot. I use the SS mostly on days where I'm feeling beat up or when I want to get in more rep work. It takes nearly all the pain from my shoulders and helps nail down form with the elbows.
