The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    no barbell this wk... help!

    Hey guys,

So normally im in college and do my usual 4/day week workout based around squat bench dlift. Well i come home and usually the gym in my parents community has a little area where they added a barbell and such to do squats and bench and all. All of the sudden i come back for my fall break and its gone. They have one of those attached type machines where the bar is attached and u can bench and stuff on those, but we all know that sucks.

Can anyone help me with what i can/should do for alterior exercises and stuff for this upcoming week. I was thinkin of taking it light anyway to give my body a well needed rest, havent been off in months. Let me know guys thanks.

Just take a light week and do what you can. If it has been that long since you took any time off, it will probably be good for you anyway.

Relax and enjoy the week off. Go for a hike, go fishing, play some ball, go golfing, whatever.

Exactly. Do something that is not strenuous. Relax and enjoy yourself. Trying to so some sort of crazy 300 workout defeats the purpose of a deload week.

This sounds fine. I have to do some very light work and mobility work on my deload weeks or I get really tight. Just make sure it isn't strenuous in any way. Do a couple of really light sets for everything to get some blood flowing and do some stretching.

Depends on the person and the situation. In my opinion, they become more important as you get stronger, have trained longer, and get older. If you haven't had any time off in several months, it certainly won't hurt and will probably be beneficial. You'll get a better feel for this the longer you train.
