    Tom Mutaffis - 440 lbs x 3 Front Squat

    First time doing heavy front squats in a while, probably had another rep or two in the tank. This is just about double bodyweight for me.

    That's seriously rediculous Tom - I've recently started doing fronts again to help with the DL. I'm betting your at a 500 front squat at least...

    How do you hold the bar? I just started front squats and hold the bar across the shoulder/bicep region, crossing my arms in front. The next day my arms feel sore as hell, almost as if they are bruised although there is never any bruising visually

    I think he holds the bar in the end position of a power clean. I sometimes have the same thing and my collar bones often show some bruising. It just means i need to get some more mass on there and ill be fine.

    Mother ****er, I just manged to double that. GAH.
    Being a strong teenager means nothing.

    My wrists hurt, but some people don't have wrists to be sore. My knees have tendinitis, but some people don't have legs to get tendinitis in. I seem to be going backwards with training, yet some people can't even walk let alone lift 400 pounds on a daily basis.

    Dust out the vagina, and keep on lifting.

    Thanks guys, I will probably try for 500 lbs soon.

    It is a "clean grip" where the bar is seated on my hands, deltoids, and collar bone. This grip allows you to lock in tightly. You will still tear up your collar bone a little bit when going heavy but it is not too bad, wearing an extra t-shirt would probably resolve that if it were an issue.

    I am not really sure on the bak squats, they are not very important for strongman but I would think that my RAW squat should be somewhere in the high 500's or maybe 600. Last time (pretty much the only time) that I went heavy i did 500 for a few with just a belt and it wasn't bad. When I do squat I always go high bar and full depth.

    Thank you, I appreciate the encouragement. The lean part is arguable but I like to think that I at least keep myself relatively aesthetic while focusing on strength. For the winter I will be doing a little bit less strongman events work (mostly conditioning) to focus on gym strength, which also means that I can clean up my diet since I won't need the massive amounts of calories for recovery. Will keep everyone updated on my goals and progress in my training journal here.

    I was not set up correctly on the first rep and ended up moving my foot mid-way through the lift. Usually I wear OLY shoes but unfortunately they were at home that day.
