The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I don’t have a triple deadlift PR, but considering I did 460x2 last week I think 455x3 is an improvement on that. Squats was a five pound PR.

310 could of, should of, would have been a 5 pound PR but I just couldn’t manage it. I should have worked up slowly rather than jump straight from 275 to a PR.

I free squatted with just the bar and had to video tape it for a class and saw I couldn’t hold my arch at all. I switched to a high box and will really focus on my flexibility. 470 is a 5 pound PR.

I have meant to do lat and rear delt work on its own separate workout but it just doesn’t happen so I’m doing it during the regular workouts. Im not going to bother tracking intensity or volume on this stuff, just pressing movements and same for squat and deadlift work. Its my goal to do one set of lat/rear delt for each set of pressing I do.

I am really frustrated with the whole 8 RPE thing. It seems like it covers such a wide range. I ended up timing out on both lifts. I can tell I am getting into better shape, but still have a long way to go.

When I moved to 3 board the workout went to crap. I meant to do 8 reps and hit 4 reps at a 10 RPE. When I moved to reverse strong band benching with 275 I was having a lot of trouble locking out my right arm and just moved onto back work. I was thinking later I tend to over estimate what I can do when it comes to overload exercises. Just because I have a lot of band assistance or a lot less ROM doesn’t automatically mean I can do way more than normal.

Or it means that's your weakness and that's what you should work on?

    Just my 2 cents
