The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Warm-ups (all exercise done with a mini-band)
    1/4 mile walk/run (feeding horses)
    Foam Roll & Stretch
    Shrugs x 30 x 2
    Face pulls x 30 x 2
    Internal Rotation x 20 x 2
    External Rotation x 20 x 2
    Broomstick Pec Mob x 20
    Shoulder dislocates x 20

    Bench
    Bar x 10 - close grip (thumb length from smooth part of bar)
    95 x 5
    135 x 5
    165 x 5
    205 x 10 - pinky on ring; this set lit up my injured bicep.
    235 x 3 - added wrist wraps
    250 x 2

    BW = 201

    I'm spending a lot of time on pre/rehab exercises and will continue to do so. My left hand grip is suffering. Grabbing the bar and squeezing irritates the injured tendon (hopefully close to fully healed by now). It can be uncomfortable. I don't know if I'll ever fully regain grip and/or torque strength in that hand. I do know I can keep working at it.

    Give it time, im sure your grip strength will come back around. It can also be a mental block and it's messing you up.

    Planted a bunch of fence post this morning. Tore the calluses off my left hand. Time to get some ice on that elbow!

    Take care of that callous also, you don't want what I had last year.

    First thing that came to mind when I felt it go. I've torn 'em before and haven't had any problems, but then again, I never knew what could happen. My whole left arm is worthless... amputation? Cybernetic arm as a replacement? That would be cool!

    Same here, I've torn them and never really took care of it. But not anymore, I make sure I do my best to keep it clean.

    Warm-ups

    Squats
    BW x 20
    135 x 5
    185 x 5
    225 x 5
    275 x 5
    300 x 3 - belt & knee sleeves (tore off a finger nail putting on sleeves )
    335 x 3 - last rep was the best rep - sat back, hit depth, smooth and easy
    225 x 10 x 2

    Good Mornings
    Bar x 20 x 2

    Ab Wheel
    10

    BW = 201 lbs

    I've been having a problem with my upper body tilting forward, ass coming up, and weight shifting to the quads. Plays hell with my lower back. The heavier the weight, the better my form. Last rep at 335 was locked in solid. Easiest rep of the evening.

    This tells me I'm being lazy with my set-up and form at the lighter weights. I'm not getting tight, arching my back, and sinking down through my ass to my heels.

    Can't wait to move some real poundages again.

    Nice work Tim!!! Always remember to do each set and rep the same, so when you go even heavier you'll have that form down. What kind of knee sleeves do you wear?

    Inzer knee sleeves - they give me a few pounds but not as much as wraps.

    I need to work on hip and hamstring flexibility. Combine that with some core work and my squats will get a lot better quickly.

    Hey tim, just stopping by. I noticed with my squats, I come up on my toes a bit, leaning forward and all. I widened my stance and my depth and form started coming around a lot better. some good work in here bro, keep at it.

    Warm-up
    Foam Rolled
    BW squats

    Squats
    165 x 5 - narrow stance, ATG, added knee sleeves
    205 x 5
    245 x 5
    265 x 5 - wide stance, added belt
    305 x crap - lousy rep, no depth, just plain garbage
    345 x 5 - added briefs, had a hard time getting to depth

    BW = 202

    Had to pick my Dad up from the auto bodyshop in the middle of warm-ups. Threw me off for the rest of the workout. Left groin still tweaked. 305 wasn't heavy - just not focused on what I was doing. Added briefs at 345 and had a hard time reaching depth. This workout was just about surviving.

    At least you got in and did something. Just remember to stay focused because that's how some people get injured. Especially since your groin is still tweaked.

    Warm-Ups

    Bench
    Bar x 10
    115 x 5
    140 x 5
    170 x 5
    185 x 5
    212.5 x 5 - wife came to bug me about something and I misloaded the bar.
    240 x 6 - PR added wrist wraps and belt.
    280 x 3 - added slingshot. Left arm almost collapsed unracking the weight.

    Triceps Pushdowns
    60 x 15 x 4

    BOBR
    45 x 20
    55 x 20
    65 x 20
    75 x 20

    Ab Wheel
    12 x 2
    8

    BW = 202

    My last PR was about 3 months ago. Feels good to be making progress once more. Left arm almost gave out on my unracking 280. Still have some healing to do.

    Warm Ups

    SOHP
    Bar x 10
    85 x 5
    90 x 5
    110 x 5
    135 x 3
    145 x 3
    165 x 6 - PR - added belt and wrist wraps
    185 x 3 - PR
    135 x 10 x 3

    Triceps Pushdowns
    60 x 15 x 4

    BOBR
    45 x 20
    75 x 20 x 3 - false grip; irritates biceps less

    BW = 204

    Feels good to be hitting PRs again. I have put on a few pounds though... creatine might be to blame for a few, but in reality, I gained weight because I didn't stop eating while I was injured. :lol: I'm a little pudgy, but damn if I don't feel strong again!

    Thanks! If I go off of bodyweight, I'm probably still a bit weaker pound for pound. But, I'm moving more weight for more reps. That is the right direction to go!

    Warm-ups - foam rolling, goblet squats, stretchin' hip flexors, groin, mobility work etc.

    Squats
    Bar x a lot
    165 x 5 - started with knee sleeves.
    205 x 5
    245 x 3
    285 x 3
    325 x 3 - added belt
    365 x 4 - PR - added knee wraps

    Good Mornings
    Bar x 20 x 3

    BW = 204 lbs

    Very happy with squats tonight. Hitting 365 for reps without briefs was a great feeling. Each rep was deep, quick, and smooth. Left an easy couple in the tank too. I am weighing more than I ever have in my life and I feel strong! I know my lifts aren't great for a 200lbs + individual, but I am hitting PRs again!
