    Warm-ups

    Deadlift
    135 x 5 - hook grip
    175 x 5
    225 x 5
    265 x 5
    315 x 5
    360 x 3 - added belt
    405 x 0 - couldn't hold it
    405 x 1 x 2 - added straps
    315 x 3 x 2 - hook grip
315 x 1 - thumbs gave out; hook grip hurts

    Good Mornings
    135 x 10 x 2
    135 x 10 x 2 - chain suspended
    135 x 15 - chain suspended

    Rope Ab Pulldowns
    80 x 15 x 4

First time doing a real deadlift workout since I tore my left biceps distal tendon. Learning the hook grip. It hurts. Hope to do better next time around with my grip.

    Warm-ups

    Bench
    Bar x 10 - close grip
    135 x 5
    155 x 5
    175 x 5
    225 x 5
    250 x 3 - reg. grip
    280 x 2 - PR added belt & wrist wraps
    315 x 2 - added slingshot
    225 x 8 - with slingshot dead & finished

It has been awhile since I've had a deload week and it shows. I'm still hitting PR's but I have nothing left afterwards. I'm constantly sore, left elbow hurts, right knee is painful even with bodyweight squats. Time to rest and work on what ails me.

Its tough to take a week off when I know that 300 lbs bench is right around the corner.

You don't need to take the week off, just back off some. It might help you get to 300lbs faster.

It'll be a deload week. Basically hit my warm-up weights for 8~10 reps and be sane with the accessory work.

Miata overheated yesterday. Thought I got it shut down quick enough, but with 100+ degrees of boiling heat the head gasket is gone. Car wouldn't restart. What a crap-tastic Father's Day.

    Warm-ups

    SOHP
    Bar x 10
    85 x 5
    100 x 5
    120 x 5
    140 x 3
    160 x 3
180 x 6 - PR added belt and wrist wraps
    200 x 1.9 - don't believe I locked that last one out. Didn't stay tight enough.
    135 x 10 x 3

Rope Triceps Pushdowns (supersetted with pull-ups)
    50 x 15 x 4

    Pull-ups
    BW x 10 x 3
BW x 6 - lost grip, should have rechalked.

    BOBR
    225 x 5 x 3

    BW = 199 <- I am no longer a man.

Very tough week. Miata overheated and blew the motor on Sunday. Truck went head-on with a deer on Tuesday and lost the radiator. That left us without a working vehicle. Had to buy a car on Thursday. Ended up with a Mazda 3. Wife is thrilled. I'm kind of m'eh.

With the disastrous week, money is tight. The truck carries a $1,000 deductible. My diet sucks. No way I'm getting adequate protein. Can't afford to order anything for a little bit either. In addition I lost 12 lbs in two weeks.

So tonight I went and smashed some f'n weights! Hit a new PR on very strict overhead presses. Fate can kiss my ass!

Life's challenges are what makes us stronger individuals. You've been damned well with the curve ball that clobbered your knee. You'll be able to put together your home gym now. The injury sucks, but it did create an opportunity for you!

I agree 100%, since I've been back to work it's been a little hard to clean up my garage. But it's not going to take much. I just need to hang some bikes and figure out what to do with kids power wheels, and that should clear up alot.

Warm-ups - lots of foam rolling

    Squats
    BW x 50
    bar x 10 - knee sleeves
175 x 5 - working on standing straight, hitting depth, and setting the bar a little higher on my traps
    225 x 5
    275 x 3
    315 x 3 - added belt & wrist wraps
    355 x 3 - crappy set
380 x 3 - added old knee wraps; great set, easy reps
    425 x 2 - added briefs
    450 x 1 - PR used newer knee wraps
    315 x 10 - back to knee sleeves

    Good Mornings
    135 x 10 x 3

BW = 198 - got a bit dehyrdated today and dropped down to 198. Drank some water and got back 200 for squat work.

Been fighting a headache for most of the afternoon. Too much sun. Thought about blowing off squats, but I've been looking forward to them all week. It is a lot of fun to squat with a sunburn on your shoulders. Concentrated on bar position, keeping as upright as possible, and hitting depth. Got some great work done tonight. Hitting PRs is always a great reward for hard work.

    Warm-ups

    Bench
    Bar x 10 - close grip
    135 x 5
    155 x 5
    185 x 5
    225 x 3
    240 x 3 - reg. grip
270 x 3 - added wrist wraps & belt; missed the groove on the third rep. Brought it too low and had a real grinder getting it locked out.
    280 x 1 - easy rep
315 x 1 - added slingshot; lacked speed coming off the chest
    335 x 1 - PR easy rep

    BW = 196.8 lbs

Squats took it out of me yesterday. Back is sore and hurting. All the foam rolling in the world couldn't work all the knots out. Shoulders were starting to hurt after benching 335. That and my back convinced me to call it a day.

    Warm-ups - foam rolling & light stretching

    Deadlifts
    135 x 5 - hook grip
    175 x 5
    225 x 5
    275 x 3
    315 x 3 - added chalk
345 x 3 - added belt; hook grip shredded the skin on my thumbs.
    380 x 8 - PR switched to mixed grip.
    405 x 3 - very easy set

    BW = 196 lbs

Lower back has been bothering me all week. Squats followed by bench did a number on me. I even resorted to oxycodone two nights in a row to get some sleep. Followed that up with contrast showers, foam rolling, and stretching.

Today felt better - not a 100%, but certainly improved from Monday and Tuesday. I wanted some big numbers tonight - reps or weight, I didn't care. I walked away with all time rep PR at 380. I know I had at least one more rep in me too. 405 for 3 reps was easy too. Can't begin to tell you how stoked I am!

Tonight's PR felt good. I know I left some on the platform. In a way, it makes me feel even better. In another, I hate that I left something up there. But this is training, not a competition. Better to walk away without breaking myself again.

On a side note, I had my company physical Wednesday. BP was 121/69 and resting pulse rate was 59 bpm. Doc spent some time feeling up my tendons. He said everything was good to go and then chastised me for trying to lift such heavy stuff at my age. He kept saying I should stop going for records, slow down, and maintain. Then he admitted I was in good shape and whatever I was doing was working. He shook his head and said, "Go for it!"

Can't wait to see my blood work.

    Warm-ups

    Bench
    Bar x 10
    135 x 5 - close grip
    155 x 5
    185 x 5
    205 x 5
    225 x 5
255 x 4.75 - reg. grip, added belt and wrist wraps; couldn't get it locked out.
    245 x 8 x 3 - added slingshot; traps cramping & tightening up.

Rope Triceps Pushdowns (supersetted with Pull-ups)
    50 x 15 x 3

    Pull-Ups
    BW x 14
    BW x 10 x 2

    BW = 194.7 - I am soooooo f'n hungry.

Traps are a knotted mess. I foam rolled 'em, had the wife beat on 'em, tried to work the knots out on the door frame. Benching only made 'em worse. In addition I am hungry. Very, very hungry. Did I mention I'm hungry?

Sucks I couldn't get all my reps on bench. But it was cool that I missed the lockout instead of stalling at the bottom. I didn't have energy and commitment to stay tight. Simply ran out of gas.

Warm-ups - worked hard on lats and rhomboids. Had a few problems with 'em last week. Ended up with a knot the size of a baseball on my back. Wife kept calling me hunchback and asking me to climb towers and ring church bells.

    Squats
    Bar x 15 - knee sleeves
    155 x 5
    225 x 5
    275 x 5
    300 x 5 - so-so set. Not much energy.
335 x 5 - added knee wraps a set earlier than I wanted to. Very good set.
370 x 7 - added briefs. Felt like my head was gonna pop off from the pressure. Great depth on all reps. This was a set to grow on!
315 x 10 - back to knee sleeves. First eight were easy. Last two - not so much.

    BW = 194 lbs

Didn't feel strong tonight. Nor did I have much energy. Might be related to losing 17 lbs in just under a month. Got ready to unrack the bar for another set at 315 and called it a night. The risk of injury was high due to fatigue. Not much would have been gained with another set or two, but a lot could be lost.

Time to hit some GPP work. It'll keep me from wussing out on the last few sets.

    Warm-ups

    SOHP
    bar x 10
    85 x 5
    100 x 5
    120 x 5
    130 x 5
    150 x 5 - belt & old wrist wraps
    170 x 7 - new wraps

    BW = 194.2

My traps are still knotted up. Trying to get an appointment with a massage therapist. Until then, I'm playing it very conservatively. It won't take much to knock me completely out of the gym.

    I detest dieting. 'nuff said.

    Warm-ups

    Deadlift
    155 x 5 - hook grip
    215 x 5
225 x 5 - should have been 260, but my spreadsheet was messed up
    280 x 5
    325 x 5 - mixed grip & belt
    370 x 8 - ran out of steam, but 9 or 10 is there.

BW = 193 lbs I am soooo hungry!
