The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

No. It is way too big and I've never used a shirt before. Donnie is trying to convert me to a gear whore. LOL

That's funny, nothing wrong with it. I have much respect for all types of lifting, whether its raw, single, multi, it doesn't matter to me. I would love to do another geared meet sometime in the future. I'll tell you right now, it will be hard to do it by yourself. How far are you from Donnie?

Only about an hour away from Donnie. My daughter lives about 5 minutes from the gym... Too bad it isn't reversed!

Worked up to my opener of 300 lbs. Hit if for a double. Threw on the bench shirt, touched with 335 lbs (it is way too big for me). Put 360 on the bar. Got out of the groove, fought it for awhile, but couldn't lock it out.

Geared lifting is fun. Do not do it alone.

Bench: Worked up to 305 x 2 x 2. On the second set, I concentrated on bringing the bar down quicker. Weight felt like it flew off my chest. On a good day, 3 reps are possible. My plan of action is:

    300 - Opener
    315 - 2nd Attempt
    325~330 - 3rd Attempt

Today was a worst case scenario. I got about 5 hours sleep, coughing, hacking, sinus congestion, headache, feel very lethargic and weak. If I can hit doubles at 305, then I'm confident I can press a minimum of 325. With the bench at the meet (Thompson Fat Pad), 330 is certainly doable.

I am finally getting exciting about the meet as opposed to just nervous.

Good job bro! Don't let your nerves get the best of you. Once you hit your opener you'll be fine.

We shall see where I'm at on Saturday. Worse case scenario - I'll only get 320 lbs. Best case - 330 lbs. Either way, I'll be back on the platform.

That's a positive way to put it. It'll also give you a fresh start with a competition PR that you can train for to beat at the next one.

The next competition is in April. I don't believe that is going to give me enough to accomplish what I would like to - which is to rebuild. Start off with a month or more of bodybuilding type stuff. Lower weights, lots or reps, increase work capacity and conditioning. Then move back into a powerlifting routine.

April what? It all depends on how far out you want to start getting ready for the meet. Bench only?

It is on April 6th. It is a bench or full meet. If I go, I would like to do a full meet.

You only have about 10 weeks to train for it if you take the week off after this meet. If your interested in this meet then I would just train for it and then starting working on the bodybuilding stuff afterwards. Then pick a meet at the end of the year.

I have a little over a week to make the decision. If it were in May, it would be a no brainer. I'll talk to Donnie and see when the next one is.

I plan on 300 for my opener. I hit 305 for doubles last Monday. Feel confident I can still do that. Back to 195 lbs already. Hoping to be around 198 ~ 200 when I go to bed tonight.

Just a gain of 6 lbs. Rehydrate with pedialyte, water, eat some chili, and three burgers.
