The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Inspires me

I've seen others post pictures of bodybuilders that inspire them. Others post videos of monster lifts that inspire them. So I thought I'd post something that inspires me

My goal is to some day squat 400 lbs for 20 reps. I'm working hard twards this goal. I've seen some pretty big and strong guys do it in videos. But my real inspiration comes from Dr. Ken Leistner. He squatted 415 lbs for 23 reps at a bodyweight of 165 lbs. His words of advice were, "It wasn't that hard, that's how we train every time we go to the gym." Something to be learned in that I'm sure. Here's the link, He's the first lifter shown, enjoy:

That is indeed impressive. I'm 50 lbs heavier and have a LOOOONG way to go to get there... but it is nice to see people doing it so that I know it can be done!

Wow, not much reaction to the video. I think those squats were amazing for a guy his size. Maybe the disco hair puts people off. I like the bald Dr. Ken better too And the poor guy (third guy) that Dr. Ken put through the ringer made me afraid to ever want to train around him. And Kevin Tolbert is a beast. Well, I'm inspired anyways...

I'm more impressed that he is 165 pounds. It would be interesting to see his diet that kept him at that weight.

The first "powerlifting" gym I trained in was Iron Island Gym in Oceanside, NY. Dr. Ken was one of the previous owners. Some of my training partners had trained with and/or around him. He seemed just plain sick, lol. High rep, heavy weight brutal workouts. One of my training partners said there was always puke buckets close by and it was a regular thing for guys to be puking during the sessions, lol.

Lucky. Dr. Ken's writings always got me fired up. It would be cool to train in that gym and listen to the stories of his brutality.

I am surprised he didn't destroy his back by the end. A truly great effort. What was his highest one rep total?

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

I have no idea what his 1RM is. Glad you guys like the video. If you get a chance to check out any of his articles, they are fun to read and very motivational.
