You should only wear gloves if you do not want to be considered a serious lifter, if your a girl and don't want callouses or...if your palms tend to get cold.
I never really saw the point of gloves. They look rediculous and you cant stop but to think the guy who is using them has female parts. I dont know about anyone else, but I wear my callouses like a badge of honor. They make me feel badass lol.

I had to go to my gym on a day and time I have not been before. There were about six different guys in there lifting at that time. Everyone of them were wearing gloves. One guy came in and immediately said "I need to borrow a pair of gloves". One of the other guys got a pair out of his gym bag.
What everyone of them had in common. Talking about MMA fighting. I think it is becoming a style thing.
i only ever use gloves for bench press, its more psychological than physical though
the bar is rough and on a real heavy bench i get distracted by the feeling on my hands and dont concentrate on my actual lifting
i dont use them for any other lift, il shrug and deadlift til my hands are bleeding
not even weight lifting gloves, i wear winter gloves while benching
i wear gloves because if i have excessive callouses on my hands (i already get some with gloves), i have to double glove during surgery - which makes grasping blood vessels etc very difficult
I wear gloves because I have excessively sweaty hands! haha. But gloves are good for preventing calluses. I only take off gloves when I want to build up my hands for a powerlifting competition.
I wear gloves because i'm a professional musician and whilst i take lifting seriously music has to come first, and as a drummer there isn't much worse than spending 10 hours in a recording studio with blisters/crazy callouses which affect your playing/mentality as your are cutting tracks. I'm not proud of my gloves but I am proud of my musicianship!

Not gone that heavy with my bench or squat yet but will update them soon!
I could see the use of gloves if you're a masseuse or something that requires similar use of hands.. I personally wouldn't want nasty cracked callus hands trying to fix my back but I like my calluses. Helps me deadlift.
Best unequipped meet lifts - 120kg Open class
Training since Dec 2008.
somtimes i do somtimes i don`t.
i actualy rather do wear them. i hate sweaty hands
Wearing gloves= softer, prettier hands, and less grip strength
Bare handed= callouses, pain, and more grip strength
Take your pick
Chalk is better for sweaty hands than any glove.
