The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Thanks Coke!! One of those good days.....was pretty fresh for my heavier sets........I think once I deload from all this heavy work ill be stronger than what Im showing in this tired state.

Thanks Tank!! Not having the green bands on was great......those things are hard!

Thanks BC!! I am very focused on pulling 900 off blocks then working my way down to the floor with a goal of 800@220.............my style is a little different than most but I like it and Im my own Man so I will do what I think works.
I would like to in the future total 2200@220 but that is a long way away ha ha...........a lot of my debts are right down so I should be able to pay for elbow surgery next year!

Thanks Borracho!! Hands are fine, I shave off my calouses the day after pulling to prevent them ripping out at the root.........I once had a big hole on left hand that took 3 months to fully heal but now Im sweet.

Thanks Mark!! That set was pretty easy but the next I fell forward, dipped and recovered well............a while ago with max weights I would not have recovered so my ab work is paying off IMO.

    BW is 215

I get my Overkill suit and briefs back after the resize next week!

Plan for next 7 weeks is to drop down in bands and go up in bar weight, I did that last cycle and it worked very well giving me PRs with straight weight.

    1) blocks and average bands =585 PR 10 April 11
    2) blocks and lights+monsters = 625 PR 14 April 11
    3) blocks and lights =
    4) blocks and monsters+minis =
    5) deload
    6) blocks straight weight =
    7) blocks straight weight =

I will then do something similar but with sligthly lower blocks..........if it is still working ill go again with lower blocks again...

I will keep updating this each week so its very easy to track, I forget my PRs sometimes and never really go back in my log to check

Shit dude a 900lb block pull will be bad ass. I was talking to my wife about building some blocks to pull from, she said how much, once I told her I could build some for about 20 bucks, she asked me with a puzzled look and asked why I hadn't done it yet. So off to home depot I went. Made 2 strong ass blocks 8inches tall. Played around with 225 just to make sure they were good to go, I think I'm going to like them a lot.

    Good stuff!

8" blocks would be ok for conventional pulls or even sumo I guess (no rules) but normally you want 2-6" so I would make some more to add to your bag of tricks.

You will love them, they are closer to a floor pull than rack pulls.

I'm pulling conventional in my meet, and I read the same thing about 8 inches being max height for conventional pulling. I'm definitely going to get more wood and likely make 6 inch and 4 inch blocks in the future after the meet when I start playing more with sumo.

Thanks Coke!! Appreciate your support from the start!

Thanks Garage Lifter!! I like the plan and I think thats important.....I know it will work at least one more time then Ill come up with something new.

Thanks Kiff!! You may not know it but I used to be bench only ha ha......deadlift is my worst lift leverage wise...my sumo was less than my bench.

Thanks Tank!! I should have know you and many others here would understand its just kinda a strange goal I guess but once you have your sights on something it takes over........plan is to pull 800 in comp one day though thats pretty much where Im going with all this but I big total is also important.

I stayed home today while lots of my mates and girls are heading to the races (horse racing) so I can be fresh for training, they will drink massive amounts.......Im sipping on bcaa's.

Still if you are young I say dont miss all the fun, go get some!

I agree about being young and gettin some. I got friends that don't quite understand things. Their response to me wanting to deadlift 600lbs is "why?" It's certainly not something I'd expect the common folk to understand, but I know here, at least I'm understood, haha.

Yeah Mark block pulls are not a powerlift so I can see why its strange but I can tell you I have not seen one 900lb block puller with a 315 deadlift lol.

    Extra work catch up day.

    Back raises-
23lb ball at chest, 13 sets of 10..........130 reps

    Weighted abs-
    6 sets of 10

    Calve raises-
    15
    15
    10
10 all with 10 sec hold on last rep

Seated hamstrings (very handy this machine)-
    50 x 50

10 mins various stretching, upperback is very tight.

Done, this hit my hams and lowerback well and got the blood moving.

Thanks Coke, Tank, Gatorman, Kiff and Muscle G!!!!!

For those just popping in from time to time yes my main focus is on pulling.........still do everyting else except bench work which fucks my elbow, it gives me only a small amount of pain from pulling and squatting.

Some light leg work...........upperback is sore and tight and now my hips are the same lol.

11" box close stance squat (for quad work)-
    135 x7
    185 x7
    225 x7

    Leg press-
10 sets of 10 fairly light and fast

    SLDL off 4" deficit kettlebell-
    66lb bell x15

Sitting right on that line of overtraining..........not really over it but close I can tell by all the aches and pains.............ready for heavy pulls week 3 of 7.
