The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I have found I gym with everything from EliteFTS.......everything other than a Mono.

Awesome to have all the good stuff to use, I can get up north to the guys gym every second weekend and he seems like a great guy........super heavy with good lifts.

I am excited to be able to do some things like reverse hypers, GHR, chain deadlifts and SSB goodmornings.

Great news Nick. Sorry havent dropped in for a page or so. Been too busy floundering around in my own self pity, lol. When lifting isnt going well I find it hard to be happy about training. Its a character flaw. I will fix it. I will take a leaf out of Big Brian Hoppers book from now on.

Anyway, love the intensity Nick. I think you should (when you do) take a 600lb pull to look at bar speed. More than capable of murdering that weight.

Man that's awesome Nick. I'd love to have everything from EliteFTS, haha. Maybe someday right? Love to stock my garage full of their equipment. Strong work man, always good stuff. Looking forward to deadlift day Tuesday morning, nothing too heavy, gonna rep 410 a few times, 3 reps prescribed, may push it to 5. Also gonna try some sumo block pulls on my nice new blocks.

Have to catch up on everyones logs shortly, Pretty busy!!

Thanks for the comments.......always like reading what you say!

I have a sore right shoulder so Im not sure if I will pull on Thursday but its getting better by the hour, lots of stuff to do like back raises, abs, leg press etc anyway.

Work is rough right now and Im finding it hard to keep my cool, I work better yet get treated worse work that out!

Hard times these are not but still Im finding it tough to stay calm after 3.5 years of not being late ONE day etc really doing well to stay calm trust me.

On a positive note those SLDL's were very explosive, "post rear chain" is strong(er) no question.

Love watching how you plot your moves Nick. Its taken a while to catch on (still not 100% lol) to your plans but you obviously have a plan behind your training methods and its really cool to watch you grow. GL on that 605 speed pull!

    Thanks Gazzy!! Haulin Steel.

Thanks Borracho!! Yeah I do plan things I just look a little less structured on paper, there is always a plan its just very flexible.
I treat my assistance work as just that.........I used to try and be the G.M champ or Leg Press (as an example) but it did not have big carryover so now I think I train myself much better by putting the right effort/volume etc where it belongs.

Thanks BC!! 900 will take a while bro but cheers for the confidence, I know its genuine!
    New gym looks fucking cool!

    Just a quick note-

I am willing to bet if you increase heavy ab work your squat and dead will go right up and your speed will be better.

I think ab work is just as important as other muscle groups like hamstrings, lats etc.............NOT less important like I used to think.

Yeah I used to skip ab work because I didn't care about "abs" and what not, I was losing weight on the diet, and have no care whatsoever for a 6pack. But, I sat down and read about all the wonderful additions a strong core will have in your deads and squats.

Thanks Mark!! Yep ab and back work has great bang for buck training wise.......good pay off on all lifts!
I used to wrestle, play Judo etc and I just wished Id had this trunk strength back then......all good I did my time in that area and I am ever thankful to my younger self for doing it, about the only smart thing I did as a youngster ha ha.
Box and wrestle a while and you will have no problem looking people in the eye.........unlike some little fucks walking around

Thanks Garage Lifter!! Yeah it has all the stuff you need so I will have to pick wisely and not get carried away he he.

Idk if it was you or someone else I discussed it with, but I played judo for about 12 years. My father learned in the army, and kept it up after the Korean war, taught me a lot and I eventually started with more structured, dojo learning and competing. Was a lot of fun, and it definitely helps with looking people in the eye and discipline.

Haulin Steel.............best day of the week.

Sumo off 7.75" blocks against purple bands (110+lb tension at top)-
Someone was using the thin plates I need to make 6" blocks dam it

    135 x 4
    225 x1
    225 + bands x 1
    315 + bands x 1
    405 + bands x 1
495 + bands x 1 quickest raw set with that weight Ive done
    Add suit
    585 + bands x 1
635 + bands x 1 nice and fast but lock-out felt off balance
675 + bands x 1 PR (would not pass in a meet as I only fully locked it for 1/2 a second)
    Bands off
    700 x 2 PR
    585 x 5 PR

    SLDL-
    135 x 10 fast

    Extra extra wide sumo-
    135 x 10 slow

Good day but Im unhappy with my technique in the suit, once I tighten the straps the lock-out is tricky.

Never mentioned it but I have been wanting 700 for a double for a while off those blocks.........dont really like reps but its cool to handle that weight for more than a single.

    When I did 585 x 5 I had a crowd of 10-12 people which made me feel strong.......for about 5 minutes.

This cycle has proved to be a good one a taught me a lot about my strengths and weaknesses:

    Weaknesses-
    Upperback
    Legs

    Strengths:
    Abs
    Lower back
    Grip
    Speed

This is off blocks, will no doubt be a little different from the floor...

Plan for next 7 weeks is to drop down in bands and go up in bar weight, I did that last cycle and it worked very well giving me PRs with straight weight.

    1) blocks and average bands =585 PR 10 April 11
    2) blocks and lights+monsters = 625 PR 14 April 11
    3) blocks and lights = 675 PR 20 April 11 (higher blocks, could not set-up correct height)
    4) blocks and 2 sets of minis =
    5) deload
    6) blocks straight weight =
    7) blocks straight weight =

I will then do something similar but with sligthly lower blocks..........if it is still working ill go again with lower blocks again...

I will keep updating this each week so its very easy to track, I forget my PRs sometimes and never really go back in my log to check
