The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Sorry Hayden, it's a single ply metal con with legs cut off.

Seems to get looser each week, just can't see how that's possible plus I'm up to 220 from 215.

Thanks Garage Lifter, Mark, Coke, Hayden, Tank and Danisleet!!!!!!!!!!

Really appreciate it guys, I dont really have to many mates with a passion for steel so my online friends I kinda share an awesome bond with, you guys know what its like to push through injuries and pull with bleeding hands etc which "normal people" prob dont realize we have to do.

Tip of the day- Again, be obssesed with the lift itself do not get obssesed with your weaknesses!

By the way I love some of you positive people and I think I should thank you for it!!

I try hard to always stay positive, I put my latest PR vid in the powerlifting section and someone posted a comment regarding the bands being unsafe (being too close to the edge) which is fair enough but why put up an icon saying "Im with stupid".

There is no need to be nasty, if you ever meet me you will not be poking fun at me I can tell you that, why not be nice about things?

Why not ask how I have been hitting PRs non stop to take my pull from 495 to 650 in a pretty short time?

    Stay positive peeps!!!!!

I find myself just addicted to the main 3 lifts really. Outside of school and work, busting my ass to get my lifts up even 5 lbs is like getting an A+ on a design project or a solid weeks wage+commission.

I really subscribe to the positive outlook creates positive outcomes. The person who thinks he can't; never will.

Thanks Rob!! Yeah positive people are great, negative people are pretty much a waste of space.

Thanks BC!! You know it bro, I just dont understand the negative people when when all share the same passion here.
If people are jealous of others progress that is pathetic, when people progress I love it and love reading about it.
I like to compete with you all and I try but it does not stop me smiling when I see your PRs!

Really appreciate the positive people in my life, damn they are important!

Tip of the day- check out the guys who have brought up a lift they are not built for ie a long armed bencher with a huge bench.......learn from them.

Thanks Hayden!! I have another PR for those sissy boys anyway.

Warriors will not be able to win my friend but if they do I will be in tears!! (I have $70 on Manly +5.5, did not want to miss out on some cash).

Haulin steel raw and taking no prisoners (thought you may like that since we cop shit here in Australia about that).

Close stance sumo raw rack pull against TWO sets of quaded minis (440lb bands)-
    45 + 1 set x 2
    45 + 1 set x 2
45 + 2 sets quad minis from here x 1 shit I knew I was in for it here, the empty bar was 485 lol
    45 + 440 x 1
    135 + 440 x 1
    135 + 440 x 1
    225 + 440 x 1
    225 + 440 x 1
    315 + 440 x 1
    315 + 440 x 1
    365 + 440 x 1 PR
    365 + 440 x 1
    385 + 440 x miss
    385 + 440 x 1 PR
    405 + 440 x 1 PR
    405 + 440 x 1 VIDEO 845 at top

    Back raises-
23lb ball at chin x 10 with 10 sec hold on last rep
23lb ball at chin x 10 with 10 sec hold on last rep
23lb ball at chin x 15 with 15 sec hold on last rep

Row variation which I liked a lot-
    4 sets of 10

    Barbell curls-
    2 sets of 10

    Abs weighted-
    2 sets of 10

Go try out pulling against two sets of quaded minis it is fucking insane!! Hardest thing I have done upper body wise from neck to fingers.

    Fun day pulling!

    Thanks guys!!!!!

You know its funny watching the video it looks pretty easy but that was very very hard, prob the hardest pull I done in a while.

I am now going to try using that stance from the floor since I think its a strong stance if you work it.

Most of the Russians (like Malan) pull with that stance when they do sumo. In addition, Coan pulled with it on his 900. It's a tradeoff, the closer your stance, the bigger the contribution from your quads to help off the floor. The wider your stance, the shorter the pull.

I think whatever allows you to get in the best position once the bar is off the floor is what you should go with. If you can pull it off the floor, chances are you should go with the widest stance possible, especially if you're geared and hip dominant. I also believe in the importance for sumo pullers to build their sumo through conventional pulls (in order to build a stronger lower back). Most Westside lifters do plenty of speed sumo and wide box squats but build their competition sumo through conventional rack pulls, reverse hypers, and GMs.

I think you should setup sometype of evaluation day for your 1RM. Then take a significant amount of time to work your sumo for speed while working volume in your conventional stance through RDLs, Rack Pulls, and Block Pulls. Then as time progresses, you increase the specific work and pull mostly sumo and then evaluate again. Repeat ad nauseum.
