The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Thanks I really like that chain of thought and actually was thinking along those lines a short time ago, I have not changed yet as what I am doing is working but that is very solid advise.

I tested my max 5 weeks ago.

By the way guys please test out pulls with two sets of quaded minis.......you will love it....and I want to see what you get

Thanks heaps guys, your the best!!!!!

Chuck rows is using the close parallel grip bar attachment (guess it does not matter too much) you stand a fair distance from the cable upright and have the cable set at the highest pin.
You start the pull from above eye level and kinda rows the handle down to your belly button using lats.

If that was shit you can find guys doing it under chuck rows westside barbell from memory.

The arey good in that similar to straight arm pulldowns they hit the lats hard with-out taxing you much overall and are easy on the joints for when your beat up.

Yeah Tank I wil do some work with the close sumo stance to test it for sure.

Rest and food, rest and food.

Nick, what's the go with you competing? Am I ever going to see you at a CAPO nationals or other event?

Also, some comments of my own in regards to the moderate sumo, seeing as I have made that pulling style my bitch.

Make sure to add some front squats and other quad dominant work, Also have a play with a high to low hip start to snap the weight off the ground.

I personally do some funny things with that style. eg I actually push my knees inward at the start of the lift to engage the quads more, the moment it breaks I push them back out. It's very weird and subtle, but over 280kg it's the only way the weights break off the ground. Also experiment with your foot placement, I angle mine more forward to favour my quads, the bitch with the moderate sumo is breaking it off the ground. once she cracks, she's off.

Being a strong teenager means nothing.

My wrists hurt, but some people don't have wrists to be sore. My knees have tendinitis, but some people don't have legs to get tendinitis in. I seem to be going backwards with training, yet some people can't even walk let alone lift 400 pounds on a daily basis.

Dust out the vagina, and keep on lifting.

Looking as good as ever Nick. Obviously, with the big PR pulls, lol. Nice change up with the raw close stance rack pulls. I have pulled against quaded minis. Plenty of tension for me never mind two sets.

I would'nt sweat those comments about the bands. Travis did say it was a nice lift first. I think they were being genuine in terms of safety. I know the engineering and precision of your rigs is like an art for you

    Keep the tips coming guys!!!!!

    Super busy....will reply tomorrow.

Haulin Steel......wanted PR but it was not to be......Eddie was there and it was fun and productive....a bad day in the gym is better than a good day at work.

Ultra wide sumo (2.5" per side wider than comp stance)-
    135 x 3
    225 x 3
    315 x 2
    365 x 2
    405 x 2
    455 x 2
    Add suit
    495 x 1
    545 x 1
    585 x 1
    635 miss at lock-out
Turn feet in but still ultra wide
    645 miss below knees

    Close sumo raw-
    495 x 1
    505 x 1
515 x 1 (not hard but not easy)

Raw close stance squat 11" box-
    185 x 10 x 3 sets

    Back raises-
    23lb ball at chin x 25 with 25 sec hold.........give that a try
    BW x 20
    BW x 20

No PR but learned some, close stance sumo raw felt shit but its hard to say cause Im real tired.

    Talk soon.

Tip of the day- check out the guys who have brought up a lift they are not built for ie a long armed bencher with a huge bench.......learn from them.
Who are they are where do they live? I am afflicted with these long arms you speak of.

No seriously Nick, who in particular are you referring to? I could definitely stand to learn a thing or two.

Fuzzy thanks for the tips!! I will not be competing for a while. I tried the close sumo and did not like it but it is a great way to build my weaknesses.

Justin thanks bro!! Yeah the tension was huge and I am very keen for some of YOU GUYS TO TRY IT 2 sets quadded minis!
I was not upset about Travis comments at all, I thought the below comment having the Im with stupid icon was directed at me which was not needed.
You are right about me and my band set ups lol!

Thanks BC!! Really would like that a hell of a lot, you are one tenacious man and I love that quality and hope I am seen in the same light.
I will be in the US in March with the GF so its on the cards since we changed from 2 weeks to 3 weeks yay!

Thanks Tank!! Your support and positive attitude are a big help to me.....perhaps even more since I dont have a team.

    Thanks Borracho!! I try lol.

Thanks Rob!! I cant lift when I wake but I used to train at 4-5 am after work and it was ok.

Thanks Tom!! Your thoughts are 100% correct, I expected a PR and not getting it sucked but I ended up really enjoying it actually.

Thanks Coke!! Yeah I was about to get angry but then remembered how much I love the process and to not forget that even when your not full strength.

Thanks Hayden!! Time for some very hard ab work BOOM.

'Tip of the day'- Pinky on the smooth (underhand grip) Index on the smooth (overhand grip) is best for most sumo pullers.

Closer and you may have grip issues, wider means longer ROM.

Paul Key and George Halbert come to mind for benching.......they love speed work btw. R Kennelly has pretty long arms and he is the man.

For pulls Scott Cartright has pulled 800 and is not built to pull.

Sorry I cant think right now but I will later on bro!

nice work as always Nick, good to see you still killing it. I agree that close stance sumo's are kind of awkward

Thanks bro, yeah feels very solid but I cant get any speed so its more of a grind.

Stick with my comp stance thats taken months to work out, use close sumos to build some weaknesses.
