The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Great work Nick! 11" box is low! I'm interested in seeing how 9" goes. Do you use a narrower stance?

    Thank you!!

Yeah feet med stance not close but not wide.

I am stronger close stance when raw but I need to build the glutes/hams more than my quads which are still a little ahead.

Shrugs to help neck/trap- worth a shot!

15lb bar x505 reps non stop medium speed.

felt good, hope it helps by getting the blood to flow.

Sorry about the trap. As long as you aren't damaging it working what ails you is the way to go. Traps are kind of a stubborn muscle to boot.

Thanks John, will know tomorrow I guess.

Press work for first time in a year or more.

Chaos bench plates hanging off bands-
    Flat backed med grip
    Bar x10
    95 x5
    135 x5
    185 x5
    225 x5
    135 x15
    Close grip
    95 x10

Pecs were GONE by this point, no stamina in the pecs ha ha

    Dumbell flys-
    30s x10
    30s x10
    40s x10

    Push downs-
    70 x20

    Wide grip pulldowns behind head-
100 x60 easy but big PR no idea why it was so easy as I used to find 30 reps hard

    Ab crunch-
    25

Tested out the chaos bench as it is a good way to work the pressing muscles with lighter weight and not much strain on my elbow but it still made it crunch dam it.

Pecs are sore and I didnt even use a wide grip.

Will keep the DB flys in on shoulder day to build my pecs back up, lucky for me pecs are one of the easiest muscle groups for me to build.

Ahhh, the old chaos bench. 225x5 with hanging plates is some going. I used to do it with hanging kettle bells.......it really is umm, chaos!!

    Crunchy elbow sounds awful, mate.

Chaos benching is pretty serious, I've only done them to the chest about twice. I use to do them out of chains. Nice work overall, especially with the shrugs-15x505, that's crazy!!!

That's one hell of a way to start pressing again, trying to deal with bouncing plates with that weight is no joke, no wonder your pecs were gone. Nice work Nick!

    Thank you everyone, great guys!!!!!

It was just a tester to see if elbow may be better, it does not hurt now which is great but it was crunching a fair bit while pressing (not as much as before).

No idea why but OHP does not bother it like bench work.

Tank is 100% right, you need to be very tight even with 95lb on choas bench, its not as bad (STILL BAD) with plates but with hanging bells its dam crazy!
I like that it smashes the muscles in just 2-3 sets with minimal weight and teaches tightness in the whole body.

You also can't be explosive, because those weights will be bouncing all over the place.

Great work Nick! First off, 505 reps is unthinkable. How do you keep count? Second off, glad to see some benching, but that sucks the elbow still bothered you. Hopefully it will heal up so we can see you compete full meet.

Pretty funny, I just found it again.............I was so slim ha ha.

    Deadlift day (trap feeling ok).

    Sumo off 4" blocks-
Trying new style, grab bar bending down stiff legged then pop hips down and canterlever back
    135 x3
    225 x2
    315 x2
    405 x1
    Add briefs and belt
    495 x1
    545 x1
    585 x1
    625 x1
    625 x miss
    625 x miss
This technique feels better but needs more practice than my old dive bomb style, does feel good though
    505 x10 PR?

    SLDL-
    225 x5
    315 x5
    365 x5
    405 x3 PR
445 x1 not strong enough for triple, this is still a PR anyway

    Sumo SLDL-
225 x20 PR ha ha first time on these, they are pretty cool

    Shrugs-
    15lb bar x300

SMASHED, had to limp out of gym.

Awesome to be close to full strength and be able to train!!

New style is a bit more hit and miss but the 625 was pretty fast, could not repeat it this time but with practice 675 will be mine...........then 725 with lots of work.

Very happy with this routine of mine, plenty of the basics again.

Justin said it perfectly, impressive is right... your pull is huge! Nice SLDLs too. You're work ethic is second to none man, I don't doubt for a minute that you'll hit 725. Sumo SLDLs.... probably my favorite pulling assistance exercise. Excellent stuff Nick.
