The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Yes the suburban tough guys are in force here, seems after 1990 the world started to breed more and more fake hard men and less actual hard men.
Lots of guys here do BJJ for 6 months and start wearing tap out shirts thinking they are MMA fighters just because they have done a seminar with a top fighter lol.........seen it so many times.
I used to rough up some guys with blue and even purple belts (sometimes) before I even got my blue belt ha ha.........some of them are soft.
Sorry to brag, just giving an example of fake hard men.
    .
Those people do suck. I could never see trying to use BJJ to think I'm a tough guy. For me, it's a total stress reducer. I train 5 days a week simply because I love it. I don't see any other reason to get involved in it. People using it as a means to try and be badass is a disrespect to the art.

Deadlift day a little under the weather.

    Deficit 2" sumo-
    135 x2
    225 x1
    315 x1
    365 x1
    Add briefs
    405 x1
    Add loose belt and chalk
    445 x1
    495 x1
515 x1 left some in the tank but not much, legs felt weak
    Briefs off
    315 x6 re-set

SLDL weights onto 2" blocks (not deficit)-
    225 x6
    315 x3
    365 x3
    405 x3
    445 x3
    225 x6
    135 x6
    135 x6

    Seated hamstring machine-
    35 x82 reps

Hard to walk after this work ha ha, hammys are smashed.

Not very happy but it was my first time doing deficits with briefs on and it was hard technique wise for me, had to have belt so loose it was a waste of time putting it on.

    SLDL is moving well.

I'm sure it was hard to do deficits with gear on. I couldn't imagine doing them with a suit on and straps up. Nice work buddy!!!!

You are fast becoming Dean of the Deadlift... 515 on a deficit is just stupid strong. Those SLDLs are no joke either... and all done while not feeling 100%. Damn nice work.

Thanks John, Kiff, Steve and Traps!!!!!

SLDL I was pleased with but to be honest I expected more on the 2" deficits, It did show me some weaknesses and that can hurt the ego.
I really enjoy pulling from a deficit for speed all the way up to 90% but for max effort its not so fun ha ha.....because I suck at it.
Powerlifting always slaps you the real deal as the numbers don't just don't lie.

By the way I have been watching a 10 part series on Americas Pioneers and the building up of the country, I want to tell you I am EXTREMELY impressed.
What an inventive and hardy people!
I am going to be reading up on America much more.

Abs.........40 reps for a PR (the type of crunch is twice as hard as normal).

"I tested a new squat style and it was perfect BOOM my squat form is better than ever." --- I love to hear that! Nothing, and I do mean nothing, feels better than when you hit your groove in the squat. 550 in just wraps is stupid strong, that will be awesome. What is your new style? Maybe I can learn something.

Great SLDLs as always, you're leading the way in that exercise. Sorry about the ripped pants, I'll assume that means you were squatting wide, I've lost a ton of shorts because of that. Awesome work Nick.

    Thanks!!

    Med-wide but not super wide.

For the technique I was always better on a box than at free squats, the thing I changed was less ****in around with sitting way back.........now I just start with my back locked in at the angle I like to squat at and then just push knees out hard and sit down (not sitting back 7 feet).
Much less wasted time and movement and I felt really solid in the hole.
Part of this is becuase Ive worked glutes/hips/hammys lots lately for the sumos but the technique change is better no question.
I will post video but Im sure you guys have equal or better technique anyway its just my free squat form had issues.

SLDL I am pretty pleased with bro as 365 was hard not long ago.
