The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I wish I could say I was holding it down Coke, but to be honest my numbers and strength are **** right now. I have a bye week in football this week then I will be back in Jersey for 10 days so I will take the time off the rest my body. I did a really bad job of maintaining my numbers this season.

Just felt like I was taking it too easy on my back since I have been skipping pull ups and doing DB rows less frequently. Hence the extra session and just decided to throw some arms in for the hell of it.

Finally back from vacation. Got a full weeks worth of lifts in. I did straight up bodybuilder workouts with a bunch of supersets, drop sets, and 10 million exercises per body part. It was a good change of pace though. Still have 2 weeks left of football and after that my training will look like it has some direction again.

    Chest 5/24

    Bench Press
    225x5
    255x5
    265x11

    Wide Grip Bench
    155x10 for 5 sets

Cable Flies ss w/ Push ups
    4x12 each

Machine Chest Press ss w/ Machine Flies

DB Front Raise/Lateral Raise/Bent Raises giant set
    3x12

Cable Front Raise ss w/ Machine Lateral Raises
    3x12

    Arms 5/28

    Barbell Curls
    5x8

    Machine Preacher Curls
    3x12 both arms, left, right

JM Press ss w/DB extensions w/ pause on the floor

    Solid workout.

I agree about the food, there is no place to get a good sub outside of NJ/NY. Down here they have a place called "Jersey Mike's" which is better than Subway but definitely not the same as the places back home.

Doing some BB workouts is a good way to let your CNS recover and keep things fun in the gym...

I have not squatted since 5/11 so I took it easy with the weight. I can't believe I did leg extenisions considering I have not done them in at least 3 years. Everything felt nice and easy.

My bench is finally starting to pick back up. I have been eating a lot healthier for the last 2 weeks and this has really been my achilles heel so I am really trying hard and I have already dropped 6 lbs(and feel 10 times better). I am sitting at 244 right now. I have a goal of 235 while maintaining my strength.

Thanks Coke. Like I said my eating habits have been bad and I am lucky to be very active and have decent genetics so I never got to out of hand. It's something I really want to improve though just to be overall healthier, faster, and hopefully stronger.

Still some impressive sessions throughout Nick even though you arent totally pleased with your numbers. Awesome benching in that last outing.
This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; the being a force of Nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy - George Bernard Shaw

Last night was my last game of the season. We lost in the first round of the playoffs. So now i get to focus on training for a solid 2 months before the practices for the fall season start to really pick up. Just to re-state my goals I am looking to get down to 235lbs. while at least maintaining my strength and I am really going to be working on my speed and getting my ankle to 100%. It has been 10 months since the injury and I would say I am at about 70%, I lost a ton of speed too. I will be sticking with the 5/3/1 without Military Press, my shoulders just couldn't take it after a while.

Didn't get to the gym till 10 last night so I cut it short. I am going to jump in on that Zercher competition and see what I can do. I have not done Zerchers in a long time and I have never done them off pins, so we will see what happens. I think I am shooting for 500.
