The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    New Schedule Help

    Background
    Age 17
    Weight 153
    Height 5ft 7in
    Current Workout: SS

I wanted to make a schedule for the near future so here it is so far:

    Monday- Back/Biceps/Abs

    Tuesday- Off/Rest

    Wednesday- Chest/Shoulder/Triceps/Abs

    Thursday- Off/Rest

    Friday- Legs/Abs

Curious if anyone has any ideas of what i could do Saturday and Sunday and if this is a good set up so far. Should i workout on the weekend or just leave this how it is? Should i switch these days around or change things up? Any advice wanted!

    Have you read SS? PP?

I wouldnt suggest making your own routine, as it would most likely be inferior to something professionally built.

DL why quit SS after only two months? Is there something you think you are missing? Are you still progressing on your lifts? What is your longer term goal?

To achieve your bodyweight goal you should also pay close attention to your eating. Training is one piece of the puzzle but when looking at overall mass gains diet is going to be the most important factor.

You may not notice huge gains in the bench press with Starting Strength but it is a good way to build a general strength foundation, and then you can focus on your bench press from there.

You should seriously consider reading the book, you won't regret it, ever. And the Texas Method a good program to follow after SS.

I will tell you know thing for sure right now, if you go from squatting 3 times a week to 1 you will get much weaker as a novice. Once you stall on SS I would run the Texas Method, it is a great program.

    Monday:
Deadlifts 5x3- Ramp up to your heaviest weight on the final set. Try to add 5-10 lbs each week for 3 weeks. On the 4th week reset at about 5 lbs more than where you started the first cycle
Chin ups 25 total reps. However many sets you can get. Once you can get 25 reps in 2 sets, add weight
Lat Pull Down 2x12. Progress as you can
Bent Over Rows 2x12 Progress as you can
    Barbell Curl 2 x 6
    DB Hammer Curl 1 x 15

    Wednesday:
Flat Bench Press 5x5. Same progression as deadlifts
    Standing Overhead Press 3x3
    DB Incline Press 2 x 12
    Dips- Same as the chins
Press Downs 1 x 15-20 reps. Progress as you can

    Friday:
Squats 5 x 3-5. Again, same main progression plan
    Stiff Leg Deads 2 x 12-15 reps
    Lying Hamstring Curls 1 x 15-20
Some type of leg press or hack squat 2 x 12-15
    Calf Exercise 3 x 12-15
I'll play with this. Here is what I would do. Might not be best for you.
