    Twirl's Training Log

    Sadly this is the third training journal I have started in 3-4 years.... Hopefully I can keep this one going and more consistent than the others. I have had an up and down journey of gaining weight, losing weight..being healthy and being hurt....I played pro paintball for years and had an extreme injury that took me out of the game for almost a year, then 2 months after I got back I broke my foot which took me out for another 3 1/2 months. My team wasn't waiting for me to recover anymore and I dropped to the semi-pro team and then traded to a team out here in southern California where I currently reside in Laguna Beach. I've been running and trying to slowly get back into playing shape as I won't start practicing again until the end of the month. I'm already going to miss out on my second season in a row and just trying to make sure that the next is my best as like in tennis at 25 (turning 26 on the 7th) I'm getting up there in years for my career. Since I've moved to Laguna I've grown a crazy addiction to beach volleyball and play just about everyday. What other sport can you play on the beach and be with gorgeous half naked women??? I have world cup in late October which I will be guesting with some of my lower divisional buddies, but depending on how well I bounce back I may be able to sneak a spot on our semi-pro team and get back on track. I'm taking the year off of school to gain in-state tuition because out-of-state is stupid expensive, and lets face it.....I'm broke lol. My goal is to get up to 230 and cut back to 215 walking around. I've never been over 200 and I'm tired of being the tall skinny kid walking around and want to finally be proud of the body I've built and been given.

    Thursdays Workout -

    BW - 180

    OH Press - 85 x 3 x 5
    Squat - 145 x 3 x 5
    DB OH Press - 50's x 3 x 5
    Single Arm Row - 50's x 3 x 5
    Lateral DB Raises - 20's x 3 x 8
    Lunges - 25's x 3 x 8

    Starting out low and slow because it's been a long time since I've been in the gym. I've been recovering on and off for about 8 months with torn quads...both out of the gym and off the field. I was traded a month ago to team out here in southern California so here I stay, and here I start.

    By the way....you know you had a good workout when you get over halfway home and realize that you've been listening to Latin rap and you don't understand a word they're saying...just thought I'd share.

    Squat - 155 x 3 x 5
    Lunges - 25's x 3 x 8

    I didn't feel all that well but wanted to get my blood pumping a bit so I did a really light leg workout..

    feeling like absolute crap, fever and stomach flu has had me in bed for days...I plan on heading to the gym in the morning and see how that goes for me

    Fr. Press - 60 x 3 x 8
    BB Curls - 60 x 3 x 8

    Didn't realize how long it had been since I've updated this. I have been putting weight on like crazy since I've moved out here. I moved out to California a little over 2 months ago, and have since gone from 173 to 196. I got a job in a really good bar that allows me to only work 3 nights a week, as opposed to working in Fla where I worked in multiple bars 4 days/nights a week 70+ hours every week. I am finally fully healthy as well (physically). I went from being off for 8 months with torn quads to being back for a month and breaking my foot. It's been a rough road, but I'm finally getting back into a routine that seems to be moving me in the right direction. Tomorrow will be the first day since I've been able to lift again that I will be adding DL's and I can't express how excited I am.

    BW - 196

    Squat - 185 x 3 x 5
    BP - 170 x 3 x 5
    DL - 185 x 3 x 5
    Incline BP - 145 x 3 x 5
    Dips - BW x 3 x 8
    Chins - BW x 2 x 8
    DB Rows - 60 x 3 x 8
    BB Curl - 60 x 3 x 8

    Tonight everything felt really strong. I definitely had more left in the tank on squat and dl. I only got in two sets of chins because a kid and a trainer snaked their way in and I was on a time limit. I should have added lunges, but I wanted to see how the DL's affected me since it's been a while. I'm pretty excited about my weight gains and am stoked about how well I'm feeling back in the gym. I can't wait to get back to my previous pr's and past. I'm fully confident that I'll break the 200 mark by thursday or friday.

    Wednesdays workout -

    BW - 198lbs

    OH Press - 100 x 3 x 5
    Fr. Press - 60 x 3 x 8
    DB OH Press - 50's x 3 x 5
    Chins - BW x 3 x 8 (static hold at the end)
    Lat Pull downs - 85 x 3 x 8
    Lateral Raises - 45 x 3 x 5
    Tricep push down - 100 x 3 x 8

    Weight felt light which is good. I'm very slowly adding weight to each exercise to try and keep progression positive. I meant to go in for just cardio and ab work, and ended up doing a light shoulder and tricep workout. I'm constantly eating and resting as my job permits and I'm finally truly seeing the weight gains I've been looking for, for years. I've gained 25lbs in a little over a month, but because of my height I really can't tell a difference other than in my legs. Oh well, first 25 down...next 25 started.

    I'm really bad at updating this, but yesterday was a really good workout. I felt strong in everything, I didn't really have much energy and kinda dragged through everything but all in all it was a good day. My diet is starting to slip but at least I'm conscious of it. My weight has been going up nicely, but I know that with a little more effort I can break that 200 mark and ill be at 230 in no time. I honestly think I can get it done by the new year. I'm not worried about gaining a little extra fat because I have an extremely fast metabolism. I want to get up to 230-40 and cut back down to 220 or so.
