The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I've just started pushing my knees out as hard as possible, so that I can keep my hips as close to the bar as possible to improve leverage. You can see from the block pulls, I have short arms which cause me to pull up instead of back, which makes 4" block pulls very very awkward for me. By keeping my hips forward, I reduce the chance of failing at hip extension due to pulling up. Anytime I pull a 85% load or more, it's like a 50% chance I'll pull it because I'm so hit and miss due to leverage. I don't think I have ever in my life grinded out a ME sumo pull. I either pull it ridiculously fast or hit a wall.

    So to fix my technique:
    1) Brought my feet in a bit (Increases ROM but my back angle is less awkward)
    2) Push my knees and hips out and get as close to the bar as possible before pulling (before I sat my hips back with straight legs then engaged)
    3) Really try and arch hard and keep my back angle consistent when breaking off the floor
    4) Try and pull back as soon as possible

I eat very little during the day then eat alot after workouts. Meal timing isn't really important as the physical amount of kcals you're taking in. But for you, a shake of whey, PB, oats, fruit, and heavy cream could put on alot of kgs. Or a pasta bowl with veggies and meat and lots of olive oil and garlic.
But lots of milk and nuts/PB will put weight on.

May the wind be at your back!

Question: Any particular reason why you lift in chucks then your ironworks?

Thanks guys. I wear Chucks when I do low bar squats (that came from equipped lifting) and high bar squats I use my Ironworks. I don't like wearing the Ironworks for low bar squats as it tilts me too far forward

    CMS Sheiko Evaluation Day (W5D2)

High Bar Squat (Ironworks, competition belt)
    1 x 3 - 280, 1 x 3 - 335, 2 x 3 - 395, 2 x 2 - 450, 1 x 1 -505, 2 x 1 - 530 (roughly 95%)

    Paused Competition Bench (no wraps)
    1 x 3 - 210, 1 x 3 - 250, 2 x 3 - 295, 2 x 2 - 335, 1 x 1 - 375, 2 x 1 - 400 (roughly 95.5%)

    Sumo DL (competition belt)
    1 x 3 - 300, 1 x 3 - 360, 2 x 2 - 420, 1 x 2 - 480, 1 x 1 - 540, 1 x 1 - 570 (95%)

    Everything felt great.
Still not sitting back far enough on squats which causes the knees to buckle forward. I would get alot out of my convict wraps if I could wear them.
Bench pause just needs to get ironed out.
Need to stay more upright in the pull and tuck my chin sooner.
Whole Workout took 75 minutes so spacing the meet out all day will be nice.

    Bench - NBL (19), Total Volume (5,665 lbs), Avg % (71.2%)
