    Weight lifting bands for BodyBuilding.

    I haven't heard much discussion other than they can be a useful tool for bodybuilding. However, I have never seen a bber use them. I would imagine they are cycled in on rare occasions def not a staple like power lifter uses them.

    Can anyone with a Power lifting and BBer backround chime in? Acress, jsully, tom, chris??

    I've been wanting to get some bands for my home gym. I would use it for exercises that I don't have equipment for, like pull throughs and assisted chins.

    pull throughs, push downs, face pulls, reverse flyes, flyes, curls, bench, assisted pullups, weighted pullups, leg pushdowns, ghetto GHRs..

    man there's so many uses for them, I don't know how bands WOULDN'T be useful.

    I'm a PL, but if I were to switch back to BB, I would still use them nearly every day. I was doing some monster-mini band hammer curls the other day and the pump I got was unreal...

    Did you use bands before you switched over to power lifting?

    I agree, good bands can be used for any exercise that a cable machine is used for. I would not trade mine for anything.

    **** I didn't even know what bands were before I switched over to PL..

    when I was BBing in 2005 I don't ever remember seeing them.. I'm sure they were around, but I don't remember seeing any in peoples journals or articles or whatnot.

    I just recently got bands and I use them for my accessory movements in a BB hypertrophy type rep range.. I was doing pushdowns with a miniband choked to the top of my rack and ****, after 8 reps, my tris were trashed far worse than a cable could ever do..

    I tried to buy a set for powerlifters last week but the online cart was broken. More strength means more growth with means more strength which means....

    This is an interesting topic.

    I have a set of bands in my gym bag but rarely use them, and have not used them for any traditional 'bodybuilding' work so I do not have any practical testimonials to offer. They have obviously taken the powerlifting community by storm and I do see how they could be a good tool for overload in bodybuilding when used appropriately. In powerlifting most people use bands to help them to build 'speed'; though in bodybuilding they could be a good tool to increase your time under tension or to slow down rep speed since you would be fighting the bands. They would also require more focus and control which are important aspects of hypertrophy training.

    I was discussing this topic with a friend of mine (strongman competitor) told me that he has been doing some light hypertrophy work with bands and has seen some good results. Another good part about bands are that they are easy to transport and you never have to miss a workout.

    I read in Flex(it's cheap for a subscribtion and I would always wind up buying it in the grocery store to read the feature article) that Jay Cutler has been incorporating bands into his training. Take it for what its worth because it was in Flex.

    That is the very reason I originally got my bands. No need to worry about "How to workout" when traveling.
