The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

pretty much everything is sore today: neck, upper back, chest, abs, and hamstrings.

I guess you can get a good workout with just a few exercises and sets

That's insane about the stack you made from that tree.

Great lifting. Super high reps is tough stuff.

A real work example of something I probably couldn't have done at all 2 years ago that I was able to get done in about an hour

    They'll taper down pretty quickly.

Basically, if I get over 15 reps then I'll add 10lb, 10+ reps will add 5lbs, and 5+ will add 2.5 to 5 depending on the lift.

My frequency is pretty high for lifts so I'm pretty sure the days of 10+ reps will be over in a week or so (hopefully)

Had to go back 14 pages to see a lifting session, lol.

Nice efforts with the benching. What program are you following?

Hey, I lifted Monday (just one page back).

Anyway this is what I'm doing:
Johnny Pain's version of Linear Progression/SS which I like a lot
    which is basically this:
    Saturday
    Bench/ or Press (A/B) 2x 5, 1 x 5+
    Curl 2x 10-15 (bench days)
    Squat 2x 5, 1x 5+
    Neck Harness

    Monday
    Bench/ or Press 2x5, 1x 5+
Weighted Chins 2 x 6-8 (press days, and only if you can do at least 6-8 BW chins)
Deadlift 1x 5+ (with or without power cleans as warmups)
    Neck Harness

    Wednesday
    Bench/ or Press (A/B) 2x 5, 1 x 5+
    Curl 2x 10-15 (bench days)
    Squat 2x 5, 1x 5+
    Neck Harness

Weight increases (once I get in the 5-10 rep range) are 5lbs for squat and deadlift, and 2.5lbs for the presses.

    Day 2 of new cycle

    Neck Harness at my desk
    10lb x 15 x 3 sets
super easy, just don't want to overdue this one

    OH Press
    85 x 5
    85 x 5
    85 x 15 (RPE-hard 8)
felt very good, all reps were pretty quick

    Neutral Grip Chins
    blue band assist x 8
    blue band assist x 8
    this were pretty tough

Had to take a short break here. I rest very little b/t sets and at this point I was a little out of breath. Didn't help that it was below freezing in the Garage.

    Squats
    165 x 5
    165 x 5
    add belt
    165 x 20 (RPE-9)
These sucked for all the right reasons; took a breath beteen each rep and by the end I was huffing and puffing like a freight train. The cold ass air in the Garage didn't help.

I remember telling myself at 10, to just get 15...then at 15 I was like I can do 2 more...then I got 17 and I actually thought "there's no way I'm stopping 17 reps on squats; what would OR think?"

Funny thing is that when I finally walked back to my desk my phone was ringing. Long story short the guy I was talking to asked me to call him back when I wasn't about to pass out

Doing it wasn't very fun Trying to talk afterwards, also not a good idea.

But I feel pretty good right now. It kind of reminds me when I used to do Crossfit stuff. You feel like you're going through hell but half an hour later you (usually) feel great.

Very nice session. 20 rep squats are hell, but you definitely feel like you have accomplished something after finishing them.

Thanks guys, pressing is going pretty well. Hoping to get back to my previous best, 235x1, but without the elbow sleeves, at some point this summer. I'm starting to work on my setup again and that's made a pretty big difference.
