Thanks Nick. Still planning getting up to a 1000lb total by the end of the year and getting my deadlift sorted is going to be huge

Great squat and DL session Matt.

The most frustrating and exciting time when you are so close. Wish you, your wife and junior the very best over these next few days!!

She should be here by the end of the week.

    We'll call today Deadlift assistance:

3 hrs of tilling my front yard, raking, leveling, seeding and watering. I'm pretty sure I will never do that again. No fun at all and I'm going to be sore as hell tomorrow.

HATE yard work like that. Mowing the yard, usual yard work, that's alright, but all that other mess, gah. Had to clear out a bunch of stuff around my A/C, go about 6 inches deep all around it, seal it off and put chips there to keep all the weeds from coming up and getting in to the A/C. Ended up being a bigger job than expected, not looking forward to removing bushes in the front, definitely renting a small front end loader to pull them out with, ha.

Haha...I feel your pain. I was out putting in some planter boxes for a couple of hours today.
Baby day is coming? You must be getting excited. Good luck man, I hope everything goes great.

Thanks guys. Very sore today. Should be OK to do OH Press tomorrow though. Anticipation is definitely building.

Thanks Johnny. I've never used a tiller before and I was doing it assbackwards, literally. I let it pull forward and then I pulled it backwards against the rotation of the blades. After I did the yard my neighbor came over and said he was impressed that I was able to do it that way and then showed me how to do it correctly.

Combined OH Press and Deadlift today. Not sure how many more sessions I've got before the baby comes so I'm trying to get as much in as possible

    OH Press
    75 x 5
    90 x 5
    100 x 5 RPE-easy 8
    100 x 5 RPE- easy 8
Since I'm not going to near failure I'm adding a second set with the same weight and reps to get a little extra volume

    Deadlifts
    185 x 5
    215 x 5
    235 x 5 RPE-easy 8
    235 x 5 RPE-8
These felt really good, except for the blisters from the yard work

    Band Pull Aparts
    Red band x 20 x 2

    Band Face Pulls
    doubled red band x 20 x 2

    Band Triceps Pressdown
    red band x 40
    red band x 20

    Band Pull throughs
    doubled red bands x 30 x 2

Did all the band work in my office again Feel great and everything went as planned.

Good idea on the extra sets at the same weight. One thing I like to do on 5/3/1 lately is really up the weight on the 3rd week before the deload and try to still hit the required 50 reps for the boring but big template. Since you will be off for a little bit, this is a good approach for you. Are you still trying to gain weight?

Nice work. How long of a rest are you taking between the last two work sets? Since you aren't going near max reps you might want to try limiting the rest to a minute. I've been keeping my rests short lately and find it helps my focus/intensity on each set. I only really take enough time to take my belt/wraps off, drink some gatorade, then start getting my belt/wraps back on, chalk up, get pissed, and lift.

I'm always trying to gain weight

With the set up I have right now a lot of my assistance work either bodyweight or bands so I can do them pretty quickly and also in my office. I've done this to max the best use of my time. When I've done BBB it just takes too long for the amount of time I have right now. As my time constraints ease up I'll definitely re-assess the overall volume.

Good work Matt! I really like what you've done with the assistance, knowing that you have time constraints.

Luckily I work at home...in the basement.

I'd pay good money to see you doing band pull throughs for your class

Couldn't be any worse than doing sled pull-throughs in the front yard. Neighbors are like, "WTF"

If I saw someone using a sled/Prowler in my neighborhood I'd become his (or her) new best friend

Wouldn't that be cool to walk by and see somebody else pulling a sled and then you see a squat rack in their garage. All I ever see are benches with the fly attachments loaded up, sitting next to a bowflex machine with laundery hanging on it.
