The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Comments:

My schedule is hectic this week, so I had to double up workouts yesterday. The squats are freakin' tough again. I think I'll be dropping the weight increases to 5 or 2.5 lbs. a session. The bench is feeling really strong on this cycle. Things are looking good.

Another solid session! This is a repeat weight on the OHP but it felt a tad easier than last week. The additional sets were challenging and burned me out but it felt great.

    Sunday Weekly Weigh In - (9/25/2011) - Week 89:

    221.4

I'm down 0.4 lbs. for the week. It doesn't sound like a lot but usually I have a meh week on the scale and then a good week. This week should be the meh week, so my weight would be up some then drop for next weekend. My diet has been in check so things should really come together for next weekend. If I don't get the 1.4 lbs. next week then I will diet down 1-2 more weeks to get under 220. I have a good feeling that I will make it next week and be done with it.

    Deadlift:

    Warm-up Sets:

    135 x 5
    225 x 3
    275 x 1

    Work Sets:

    305 x 2 (pulled something)
    305 (failed attempt)
    225 (failed attempt)

    Comments:

The bench press went great. I felt really strong again. I decided to go ahead and do my deadlift session. The warm ups went fine but on my first work set I felt something like pulled muscle in my back. I didn't attempt the third rep. I rested about 5 minutes then I went to attempt another set. When I bending over to get ready to start the set my lower back was hurting. I attempted the first rep but it wasn't good so I dropped the weight. It was the same story on 225. Right now my back doesn't really hurt but it feels really stiff. Maybe I'll get lucky but I'll have to see how things go over the next day or two.

    Thursday - 3x5 - Cycle 2 - Week 10 - 9/29/2011:

    OHP:

    Warm-up Sets:

    Bar x 8
    95 x 5
    115 x 3
    135 x 1

    Work Sets:

    140 x 5
    140 x 5
    140 x 5

    Additional Sets:

    115 x 5
    115 x 5
    115 x 5

    Comments:

I'm at 140 again on the OHP. I think I stalled out at 142.5 on my last cycle but 140 felt pretty good today. I'm going to try and make it to 150 this time around.

Also, I'm pushing for a sub-220 weight this weekend. I have a fighting chance but we'll see if it happens.

    Sunday Weekly Weigh In - (10/2/2011) - Week 90:

    219.2

The weight-loss diet is over and 75+ pounds are gone!!!

Damn, it feels unbelievable to say that. Now throughout the month of October I'll be working on finding my maintenance calories and maintaining my weight. In November I'll start my first bulk.
