    Beer blocks testosterone?

So apparently theirs a new news story out there from a German study that Beer can help prevent prostate cancer because it helps to block "excessive testosterone"

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/...e-cancer_N.htm

i wonder if it just blocks DHT. At the bottom of the story though it mentions that its probably not as great at block T as its touted as their would be more signs amongst heavy beer drinking populations of lower prostate cancer.

I did once hear that beer increased oestrogen and lowered testosterone. Which is worrying because I like beer! I ignored it. Don't know for sure.

*waits for someone more knowledgeable to step up*

On a more serious note: I'm glad there are studies like this going on, and I don't intend to criticize the research in any way. Still, it's best not to base your life on the results of one study. All things told, If your aim is to be healthy, you should of course keep drinking to a minimum. That is just common sense.

yeah they do a test and they can point to the numbers but if alcohol or beer actually made a significant difference in DHT it wouldve been pretty clear a lot earlier on from lower instances of prostate cancer.

BUT this is interesting for the balding peeps, finasteride the medication for balding blocks DHT and also shrinks the prostate which is what this study says Beer does so for all the baldys out there... take your medication
