    Deeds Not Words

I need to stop starting fresh training logs....this will be the last one for a while!

I am 16 weeks out from the GPC Worlds in November and I have set some lofty goals for myself.

I am not going to talk shit about how I am going to do this or that. I am just going to put my head down and fucking GO!

I start back training this weekend after taking this week off following GPC Nationals last Saturday. I have new briefs and suit on the way which I cannot wait to get into. I have a bench only comp in mid September (7 weeks) and hopefully I can get settled into my new ace shirt in plenty of time.

No training until saturday so here is a stupid picture instead...

Matt, this Is Justin. Just changed my name (again)

But anyway I am going with:
Squat - t baggins By wendler
    Bench - southside style program
    Deadlift - Tokars (5x3, 3x2, 2x1, deload) repeat

Sorry I am typing this on my iPhone with my fat fingers so it's not very detailed.

I like it for four reasons...

    1. It's simple
    2. Builds technique and teaches you to touch weights you thought were 'too light'
    3. I like having all my numbers set out the whole way along.
    4. It's simple

Def be interested with what Tone has to say on it too.

I have also purchased a valeo belt that tightens like a spud belt. Hopefully I can sling itlow which will allow me to get my belly up as far as I can. Using my big lever belt inhibits setup too much. Well see.

Hey don't tell anyone you have seen me, right Lmao.

Sounds good though the coan/philipi cycle is really tough going. Really need to have your numbers worked out if you want to make it to the end of the cycle. It gets very hard very fast. As I found out.

here is a good page on it:

    http://www.powerpage.net/coanphildead.html

The whole westside thing......I dunno. I think it is best left to the folks training at westside. It is constantly evolving. I am not sure how many people can just pick it up and apply it effectively. I am a big fan of simplicity. Westside is far from simple IMHO.

Thanks Hayden. Yeah, I got about half way through a Coan DL cycle pulling sumo before coming to a rasping halt. I definitely got stronger with just 6 weeks of it but my starting weights were just too heavy. Rookie error.

Whrrrd. Its defo a tough cycle and to be totally honest is probably done best with a primary focus of just your DL in mind. It can burn you out quick.

    Bench Training - 3rd Aug - Week 1

    Bench
    Barxlots
    154x5
    220x3
    264x1
    308x1
    Ace on
    374x3
    418x3
    451x3
    3 board
    508x2

    shirt off
    3 board
    308x3
    308x3
    308x3

    DB Rows
    3x12

    WG Lat Pulldowns
    3x10

    Band Pressdowns
    3x20

Notes - Handled the weights much better than I had done 4 weeks ago before going back to the single ply. With the extra support I tucked well and got to about 1" from touching. Unfortunately, this shirt doesnt come alive with weight in this range and I really had to work with it and I actually had to wrestle a few reps back from dumping forward. I could feel them going. I had planned a couple more sets with the boards but my left arm was fried. No feeling in my hand and the pain in my arm was too much. Got to get the ball inflated in the left sleeve again. I will get there. Encouraging session with more good than bad.

Cheers Hayden. The heaviest I have handled in this shirt is 528 to a 2 board. Thats when I really felt that the weight moved in the groove and it really shifted on the press. I expect to be handling much more than that over the next few weeks. Just need to get the shirt/sleeves stretched to the point where I can wear it for more than twenty minutes without being crippled.
