The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Q on Static Holds

When you are holding for grip strength does it matter what hold yo have? I usually do it with alternating grip because that is how I deadlift, would it be more effective to do just regular grip or not?

I don't know if I'm right or not, but I would use a weaker grip, like double overhand.

I would go with double overhand, simply because a mixed grip stresses your biceps and the DOH grip is more challenging. It is also helpful to do holds with DB's or static hang from a revolving bar since you cannot rest these items on your thighs (as you can with BB holds).

If you get bored with holds you can always just do shrugs.

Thanks Tom, I did find myself leaning back with the barbell a little bit. The only problem is that I work out at a Planet Fitness and the highest dumbell is 80lbs. I will try some hangs today, my grip is very weak as of now.

I know haha.....it is weak but they have many barbells and lots of space to do all my lifts. I get my membership paid for so I don't think I'll be leaving anytime soon.
