    Shoulder press, sore spine!

I use dumbells in my routine for shoulder press. I noticed pain in my spinal cord afterwards. Is this due to the amount of weight? Would I be better off using the machine? Anyone else use dumbells? I figure once you're over 100lbs you can do some serious damage to your spine.

Maybe it is because you arch your back which puts in too much pressure for the lower back?
    Change is good.

yeah, you shouldn't be arching your back in the stance for pressing.

Personally, I've worked out many months doing 3-6 sets, between 135-215 pounds, and 6+ reps... I don't have any lower back problems, but I am very strict with my form.

I sit and never arch my back. So what you guys are telling me is dumbells are fine, as opposed to the machine? I'd much rather use free weights.
