The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Feedingcannibal, first post, first competition

Long time lurker, first post, bla bla bla...

38 years old, lifting since high school, rugby, MMA, injuries, started powerlifting more seriously, began training with a competitive bencher 2 years ago.

Wasn't planning on competing, but ya know how that goes....

Did my first meet last Saturday, Son Light Power federation. Bench only. Had a game plan, stuck with it, came in at 218 lbs, hit my numbers just as planned -

    405
    430
450 - new SLP Michigan state record for submaster men/220.

SLP is quite relaxed, held at a local gym. Wore a double ply Rage X. Fun day. The adrenaline high... aaahhhh.

Good forum here, appreciate the knowledge.

St. Johns, just north of Lansing. Place called Iron House. Very nice, as far as gyms go - bands, boards, bigassed chains, lots of squat racks.

Congrats! I've done one or two of SLP's meets in the Holland area and have always walked away with some good tips from Dr. Latch and other lifters.

Much appreciated, nice to see a Michigan contingent here! Latch did have some pointers for me, and gave a brief demonstration on setting up for the deadlift, which was quite good.

So now its back to the log, need to set up for then next comp, either later this year or the same one next year, gotta keep packing on the plates....

    450 bench (equipped, competition)
    475 squat raw
    500 dead raw
