The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Gear Whore Classifications

I did my first raw meet a couple months ago and man did it put some persepective on how much I suck in gear. So I thought we might want to come up with some classifications for the Gear Whore. This will equal your carryover from gear on a three lift total. Weigh classes are not relevant for this exercise. Where do you fit in? And what do you think of the numbers?

    Class - Multiply Carryover

    Pro - 600
    Elite - 500
    Master - 450
    Class I - 400
    Class II - 350
    Class III - 300
    Class IV - 250

As a side note, this thread is for fun. Please try and keep it collegial.

To be clear we are talking about multiply totals. Single ply should have its own list. I'm class III, 325 lbs.

I get around 215-230lbs out of my shirt. I'm hoping that will change since I'm going to start working on my raw bench more.

Deadlift I get 100lbs. maybe alittle more.

So total I get 605lbs. out of my gear. I could use some improvement on the bench.

i'm in real admiration of all the guys that get 250+ out of their shirts.

    squat: 270
    bench: 120
    dl: 140

a little over elite. maybe i could get pro if i used a shirt that i don't suck in, lol.

I get 220-250 out of my shirt. I just benched 600 multiply and I the last time I took a raw gym lift I hit 365 easily. I don't do many raw full range singles though. All my raw work is done with bands/chains to build the shirt lockout.

I think geared lifters shouldn't even know what their raw bests are. Geared lifters should be maximizing their geared bench. Getting the most out of gear is mostly due to the way your are training. Not just some magic shirt. I know that learning a shirt with good form helps of coarse. All of my raw work is with chains, bands, pins, boards, etc. Only time I bench full range is on speed bench days or other light assistance work.
Benching for both raw and geared is like training for a sprint and a marathon at the same time. Sure you can be good at both. But if you drop one of them then you will get way better at the other.
