totally off topic, but do you have something set up in your jeep so that water does not get to parts of the engine? last time i took my truck through a river i wrecked my alternator.

The real fun part was the fact that I didn't have any doors. So, water just ran accross my lap. It took all day for my underwear to dry out

We often do these type of crossings in our Jeeps. As long as we don't get any water sucked into the air intake, everything does fine.

The air intake is right behind the passenger headlight.

Back is feeling good, but I still have a little elbow pain and heel pain. Never squat in soft shoes!!!

I'll probably start back to training today, but I'll keep it light...

I have a lot to catch up on around here. Your doing good just as I expected. Sucks about the back, hope everything is ok. AWESOME pics of the jeep, you have some really nice places to go off road. Keep up the good work!

I just did some easy pressing yesterday. I am probably going to just set everything on cruise control for the next couple of weeks and let these nagging little aches and pains go away. My back is doing good, but I have pains in my elbows and my right heel has been tight and sore. I blame the heel and back on squatting with crappy running shoes, I should have known better.

After a couple of easy weeks I am going to go back to using 5/3/1 exclusively, although I'll probably throw in a few clusters here and there. I enjoyed HCT-12 and it did make a difference in my upper body hypertrophy. I may revisit it again at a later time. I'm 47 years old and I'm not a newbie, so a routine that can give me a little extra muscle in a short period of time really has the goods. I can imagine that some of you younger and less experienced guys could really make some BIG gains if you do this routine correctly and consistantly. My congratulations to Daniel for developing a quality program.

    Haha...

I had a fun session tonight. I just worked up to 300 lbs on the deadlift and started repping it. After 20 reps I decided to stop because I couldn't catch my breath. After about 10 minutes rest, I went outside and did sveral laps with my sled. Had me breathing like a freight train

Given my strength levels and the fact that I have spent a lot of time on high reps, I can usually squat and deadlift 300 lbs for 20 reps pretty much any day of the week. It's when I get up to 350 lbs that I really hit the wall. For anybody stupid enough to want to try this, make sure you take your "rest and pauses" at the top (lockout) of the movement. And use straps.

I cant believe im 23 and in no way i would be repping 20 @ 300lbs. Very impressive lifting OR.

Good thinking about cruising a little bit.

Dude, that jeep is f***ing awesome!!! I never heard of anyone doing those kinds of things - rolling over boulders, going through rivers......you're a nut dude!

Nice lifting too. It never hurts to listen to your body when it's telling you to take a break!

    Kiff,

I live in a small town in the foothills close to the mountains. Most fishing and four wheeling spots are less than an hour away. And I'm a teacher.

    The rest of you,

Thanks for checking in. I'm still lifting in my garage but I'm really on autopilot right now. I have a super busy schedule and I'm trying to let all the aches and pains go away completely. I'm just doing a bare bones 5/3/1 with some light weights to start with. I'll be posting a journal in the "regular journal" section in a few weeks. I'll let you know when that happens...

it's nice to hear that the HCT did some good things for your physique. I loved the DC routine, which mirror's HCT-- there are a lot of good things within the HCT program.

I've also just begun the 5-3-1 routine and I'm loving it thus far. Thus far it's like every rep-out is an all time high rep-out for me. I'm happy you gave me the idea to try it out.

I hope all of those nagging injuries fade into the dark sooner than later.
