    Core training

Alright, so I think I finally found out what I want to do. I want to strengthen my core. I've read a bunch of information saying how a strong core helps get some lift numbers up and helps prevent injury. Does anyone know any workouts that can help train and strengthen my core. That is really my main focus now, and for the next few months.

Squats, deadlifts, bench press, overhead press

Oh and Supermans, crunches, roman chair back extensions, side bends, knees to elbows, floor wipers, good mornings, stiff legged deadlifts

This pretty much covers the basics. Any exercises that hit the lower back, abs, and obliques that can be overloaded (i.e. add extra weight or resistance) will work to strengthen the midsection. Work 1 or 2 of these exercises 2-3 times a week and you should be fine. For example, I do weighted back extensions once a week, the ab wheel once a week, and some weighted sit-ups once week. I'll also throw in some windmills or other heavy oblique work sometime during the week on a fairly regular basis. It doesn't have to be very complicated, hit the low back, abs, and obliques hard with whatever you have access do. It's not about fancy movements or routines, it's about about working hard and progressing on some basic exercises.
