The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

WOW, lol, where did 207 come from? I've been eatting huge for about 10 days now and my weight is maybe finally at 201. What have you been doing?

Would you seriously consider getting back up to a BW that big? I'd like to get back to 220 with hopes that I look much better the next time around, but I think I'd make it be a long bulking process. I definitely believe you'd look much better this time around.

I still love the attempt, and it's good to know that you didn't fail on the lift, just your grip. I'll wear wraps every back workout. I don't care about my strength too much anymore. If I was PLing then maybe I'd work on my grip strength more, but it's irrelevant to me, I'd rather nail the lift and not be worried about my grip.

I look at it like this, which am I more happy with almost getting the weight up and my grip fails, or getting the weight up with wraps on. I'm more satisfied with getting the weight up, and I believe you'd feel the same way.

I know you have the straps, you are no less of a lifter by using them for Deads.

Good effort on the 420. I agree with T&P, I use straps on my top sets. If my grip slips, my attention is diverted from thinking about form.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it - doing what you did last year but stepped up a notch is gonna add on some new muscle size and you will look even more amazing next summer...you really know how to get ripped.

i do have the straps, the ones i have are not ideal for deads. they are too thick and i cant get my hands lined up properly. i really just need some practice I suppose. i need to back off next week anyway so I will give these a go

thanks dude. i actually bought COC 1 & 2 and an Eco ball today. i will use straps while working on improving my grip. i own the #1 somewhere in my storage unit...... but ill be damned before i crawl through that mess.

Well you've got actual tacky persay, then you have the chalk balls that climbers use. I use one when I'm at work, wrap it in a small towel, lay it out in the corner on the floor, grab it, squeeze it with both hands, no issues, no chalk flying around, no mess. In my garage I liberally apply chalk, it's pretty crazy sometimes. Oh there's also the metoluis eco ball.

Not that you are weak by any stretch, but rather than lie about your strength levels just pass it off as you dont know or care. As someone who goes this route when asked because I usually don't have any clue of my max nor care what it may be it defers the conversation well. People then assume you're very strong and just being modest.

Definitely a true statement right here!

Definitely a hilarious statement right here!

I agree with OffRoad, that should be in your signature, very funny!

A lot of people don't even have an idea of what is actually "strong". I'll have my students ask "can you lift 200 pounds?" and I just say "sure, I can". It's not like people even know about BW coefficients, and that a 300 pound bench is amazing for someone at 150 pounds, and that's more impressive than say some guy at 250 benching 400, but people just see the "larger" weight and think that's the stronger person.

    What can you do?

thats actually usually how i handle it. i dont like talking about lifting with people with the layman. there are a lot of people who mock me for my eating too... and its sooooooo tempting to say, "well look at me and look at you" but ya, i am nice about it

haha, glad you're psyched for this workout. After yesterday my back and legs are still pretty sore. Weight did drop pretty good though, probably go back to sleep then re-weigh and check in with the weight then though. Get it done today bro, 100sX5+ is yours.
