The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Ok what the hell?(Fitday question)

So far today I've had 1704 calories. 163.6 grams of those being from protein. Fitday says that I'm at 44% protein. However 1704x0.44=749.7 749.7/4=187.44 not 163.6.

Am I missing something here or is fitday giving me the wrong percentages?

I believe Fitday gives you your CALORIES from protein, carbs, fat in its percentage breakdown, not the grams. I had a similar moment of confusion when I saw that my 80g of fat and 250g of protein were near (around 5% points) each other in terms of percentages in the pie chart.

Well it would still be wrong wouldn't it? 163.6x4=654.4 not 749.7

Hmm...what are your other numbers for carbs, protein, and fat in grams?

I just checked mine, it's working correctly.

Now I'm at 208.4 grams and 2206cal which should really be 242grams for 44%.

Your best bet is to contact customer support and see whats wrong.

I don't know if this happens to me or not since I haven't really used fitday, but I'm going to start using it once i figure it out lol

    Good luck!

Mine is accurate. Take the grams of protein, multiply x4, divide that by cals and the percentages are accurate. Dunno. Mine is accurate for all three macro's.

I think I may tr out calorie king. I've just been going with fitday because it's what everyone recommends. I'm starting to wonder why.

why does it matter if the % are off? Are you recommending people use percentages instead of just hitting gram amounts? Not seeing the problem...

I recommend gram amounts and percentages. I still don't want to use a program giving the wrong percentages.

Percentages are easier to tell if you are hitting the right amount of carbs, fats, and protein for the day.

For instance, I'm trying to figure out what I want to eat for the week, so I use fitday to help me work it out... and I am hitting my protein goal, but I'm taking in a bunch of fats... its like 40% fat and 30% protein and carbs which isn't what i want..

Any who, have you contacted Fitday to tell them about the error? (you know.. since you have clients... you could probably make your own site that calculates everything the way you want it to and if something happens you can get it fixed faster.... just an idea) ----- (another idea.... would be cool if WBB had their own for bodybuilders with a bulk/cut/stay the same functions )
