So my school just hired a new basketball coach. He seems like a cool guy and definitely is serious about getting us better. He started our first off season training practice today and he went over what we were going to do. Basically, it's a half our in the weight room doing agility and plyometric stuff then 2 hours in the gym doing various drills. I talked to him and he agreed I could continue lifting on my own for a little to gain some more strength. So anyways, I was just wondering if you guys think it would be a good idea to lift in the morning then go play basketball around six. I'm following the HCT program on a four day split Mon/Tues Thurs/Fri.
Definitely beats not lifting at all. Just gotta do what you can with the situation, and try to stay well-rested.
BFS is Bigger Faster Stronger, a program that revolves around 3 days of lifts with plyo in between.
Day1: Bench/ squat/ aux
Day3: Deadlift/ power clean/ hexbar
Day 5: Towel bench/ box squat/ aux
Reps vary each week. One week could be 3x3, then 3x5, 5x5, 5x3x1, 10x8x6 repeat.
I wasn't a fan of this system, some people/ coaches thrive on this program. I do not.
