I'm doing the same thing! minus the sodium. Apparently you feel awful the first couple days. I feel extremely bloated right now.

    I maybe dropped 4 - 5 lbs............I am pretty thin already....165lb. weight class.
I'm sure the larger you are that you could expect to drop more.

you said you have cut 16-18 lbs, was that just by using the water loading method above?

I've cut upwards of 20lbs with just salt/water manipulation. Of course I'm a big fatty, so its a little easier.

Is that in just a week? What exactly do you all consume for sodium and in what amounts?

actually i usually bloat on the high salt days up to like 290-293.

then cut to 275 on the last day before weigh-ins.

umm, i'll eat one or two jars of pickles on monday and drink all the pickle juice along with my 3+ gallons of water.

tuesday: 2.5-3 gallons of water+high salt still (usually the same amount as on monday), by this point I'll be bloated up over 290 from a normal daily weight of 284-285.

wednesday: 1.5-2 gallons, half the sodium (which is usually just dropping it to my normal daily intake, maybe a bit less) and cut out some carbs too, try to eat high protein/low carb.

thursday: less than 1/2 gallon of water all before 12pm, no sodium, no food after a light breakfast, can make paste from olive oil and protein powder (if it has no sodium!) or salt free peanut butter spoonfuls if you're gonna faint, but I recommend against eating ANYTHING.

water and minerals should shed from you during the day, then I'll usually sleep in sweat pants. You'll likely be very uncomfortable but its worth it.

friday: wake up early and check your weight, you should be close, if you're over you need to do heat sessions in a shower until you're close enough to go weigh in. i like to weigh 274.5 on my home scale before trusting a meet scale.

after making weight, I like to down a 1 liter thing of pedialyte immediately, like the first 5 minutes. its less harsh than gatorade so you won't get sick. then I eat salty, high carb foods and drink a mixture of water and gatorade all day. I try to eat 4-5 times after making weight and get at least 3 gallons of liquid in me. I usually make it back up to 286-288.

    then its time to lift!
