The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Quads sore after a week

Over the last 3 months I've managed to get flexible enough to do proper squats going all the way down. The last 2 weeks it's been great. I haven't pushed myself. I figured that once I got down low enough that I would drop the weigh some. It felt great.

Last week I only managed to get to the gym once (Tuesday) due to family issues. Today, back on my regular schedule, I did my warm up set and felt sore. Wasn't sure if it was just soreness from riding my bike or running around the house. I got down for 1 rep and was finished. I listened to my body. I went on to some upper body exercises then tried some lighter isolation exercises but my quads didn't want it.

Any reason that you could think of as to why this is?

It's gonna be like that until your legs are acclimated to the work load. Last week was my first week doing weights (in general) in 5 months.

On a 4-day Hypertrophy program, my legs are still feeling tender from last week, but from my knowledge, that goes away in time.

Give it a while, allow your body to recover (proper post-meal and rest) and you will be kickin it <literally> in no time.

Were they sore before you went into the gym today or only after you started doing warmup sets?

They've been pretty sore all week, but I haven't put much stress on them. Walking up stairs I can feel them 'burn' a bit.

It's gonna happen. almost inevitable. Just push though and it will get better. Trust me.
