    Elbow Sleeves

    Hey guys,

Been getting forearm pain and elbow joint pain when lifting weights over the past few weeks. I ice them usually after heavy workouts and have up'd my fish oil intake. I no longer do movements which give me real discomfort like curls/pulldowns/chinsups, that sort of motions.

Currently using mueller elbow wraps but seem pretty ****ty and dont give me full support. I live in australia and cant find any decent wraps to combat the pain...

Ive looked on various different US sites, read some reviews etc and APT seem the way to go but almost all there decent wraps are out of stock

I heard that vulkan sleeves seem to be good also the tommy konos ( about the only sleeve which is in stock at APT ). The tommys are knee sleeves which can be used for elbow sleeves too, but wondered if me putting the sleeves over my knees would stretch them too much for my elbows? Would it be worth getting two pairs? One for elbows, one for sleeves? Or go the vulkan sleeves and buy a pair of tommys for knee sleeves for my squats.

Any help is appreciated... Thanks guys.

The TK's and APT wraps are both good, the TK sleeves are just neoprene and will provide a ton of warmth.

If you were to go APT, I'd get the red and black single ply sleeves. I have a pair and they provide warmth without contributing to your lifts

I have seen some Australian guys with the old style blue rehband sleeves; they are great for warmth/support. The new style rehband sleeves (grey/black) are only 5mm and cover smaller surface area so in that case you would be better off with Vulkan or TK; both of which are substantially less expensive.

Along with purchasing a good sleeve I would try to determine what the underlying problem is. If you have tendonitis you could be at risk for a severe injury which could keep you out of the gym for months. Perhaps adding in some light band work, changing the way that you warm up, and continuing with the anti-inflammatory and icing would help to resolve the elbow issues.

Have you tried reaching out to some Australian strongmen/powerlifters? I can contact a couple of people for you if you would like. Shipping from overseas may cost you more than the actual sleeves.

I have the new style rehband sleeves. I love them for my knees but the elbow sleeves kinda suck. I have a problem that the black border they put around the ends doesn't like to stretch and it digs into my bicep causing it to flare up worse if I wear them for too long.

I have heard a lot of negative feedback about the new style rehbands; they should have stayed with the original blue sleeves.

Yea I think I might shelf my elbow sleeves and go for some APT's if I feel I need them. I hardly use the sleeves, usually just when I'm achy on bench or squat days.
