    America's Strongest Man Battle of Champions - 7/23 & 7/24 (Hartford, CT)

    I am going to be competing in America's Strongest Man Battle of Champions in about two weeks.

    The events for the LW competitors are...

    Day 1:
    - 275 lbs Log Clean & Press, clean each rep.
    - Car Deadlift; side handle 650 lbs in-hand.

    Day 2:
    - 150 lbs Circus Dumbbell Clean & Press
    - Yoke / Frame Medley, 880 lbs Yoke 80' and 650 lbs Frame 80'
    - Husefeldt Carry for Max Distance, 300 lbs Stone
    - Atlas Stones; 280, 300, 330, 360, 405

    why does it say "850 yoke (Yoke feels like 800)" what makes a yoke feel 50 lbs lighter?

    The yoke is actually 880 lbs empty without any weight loaded, but it is very stable which makes it just as challenging as 800-850 lbs on a different apparatus.

    Thank you. The weights are for the most part heavier than WSM, should be a good contest.

    Good luck tom! I know you will do well. One of the HWs I train with is going too. Winner in each class gets a pro card right?

    I am actually battling some tendonitis in my left bicep but I have adjusted my training accordingly so that I can save it for the contest. Other than that training has been going well and I am comfortable with most of the events.

    Some of the weights for LW's have really increased lately. The final stone at World's Strongest Man was 375 lbs and there have been two recent LW contests with 400+ stones at the end of the series.

    I managed to lap a 410 lbs stone at the end of the series in Arizona two months ago but could not get it onto the platform. Hopefully I can maneuver the 405 at this contest, diameter of the stone makes a big difference for me since I do not have long arms.
