For months I was squatting with no pain what so ever. Then my computer broke and I would sit hunched over for hours playing PS3. Ever since, I get lower back pain from squats. I can deadlift no problem but squats, no matter what weight or depth give me pain.
I went to my GP and he said "do sit ups". This was no help.
There is obviously nothing serious wrong, otherwise I wouldn't be able to do the deads, right?
I'm getting a large sum of money soon and will be able to make half a years worth of appointments with the local chiro clinic.
I'm just wondering, do you reckon they can correct my lower back?

My Chiro helped me tremendously. My hips were so rotated from all the wide squatting that When I layed down my right leg was 3 inches shorter LOL

They can be very beneficial provided you find a good one. For example, my chiropractor doesn't need me to come in constantly unless I have an acute injury of some kind. We discuss what I can do on my own to maintain things such as stretching, mobility, strengthening certain areas, etc.... Recently I've only had to go in once every few months just to get everything "tuned-up". I'm very wary of those who want you to come in multiple times a week for months on end.
It can definitely help.
My chiropractor is a powerlifter. That's made a huge difference for me. He understands the point of what I'm doing and tries to keep me healthy, but also keep me lifting. Not all doctors think that way. They just give you meds and send you on your way.

The thing about a chiropractor if you've never been to one (or at least mine), is that he can "see" what's wrong without asking you. I'll come in with my lower back all stiff, he'll go right there.... to the exact spot.
On the next visit, the problem is more my middle back (maybe some problems from Dumbell rows) and he'll go right there, and begin working.
A month or so ago, I asked him how he "knew" where the problems were without asking, and he started laughing and said, "It has a lot to do with the "Dr." in front of my name."
..... Also, is the cost of living where you are extremely high? In my mind a large sum of money would not be 6-months of visits to the chiropractor...... My guy has a 12 visit package for around $175...... Assuming you went 1x per week, you'd only be spending $350 for every 6 months.....
One other thing, the best thing for your lower back is hamstring stretching...... I'm not a chiropractor, but my guy tells me over and over that when your back gets injured, your hamstrings sort of tighten up, and actually pull your pelvis out of it's normal postion making your problems worse, or causing them to last longer....

I am partial to physical therapists. However, a good chiro will do. Firstly, you need someone who understands what we do and wants to get us back to doing it. Secondly, the therapist needs to be physically strong enough to manipulate you. I'm sorry, but I have never found a 120 lb women who could work me over, well, at least in the way we are talking.
There is no doubt they help. Some things are beyond their control but find a good one and you will see for yourself.
I've had good results from my Chiro over the years, but in all honesty the single best thing I've done to compliment what he does was to buy an inversion rack about a month ago. The hanging upside down and letting gravity work in the other direction for just a couple of minutes once or twice a day has been amazing. I'm deadlifting and squatting (and pretty much just getting around) with less pain, tighness and discomfort than I have in years. My wife has had great results with it too. I was kidding with her that I even felt like I could get in a stance and play some football again. Cutting up, I got in a 4 point stance and was supprized at how easy I got in it at 54. Ours only cost about 100.00 and is very easy and quick too use. If you are getting some money I'd invest in one of those as well. The one we got was from a company called 'Marcy'. Found it on the internet. I weigh 265-270 most days and it handles me find. Rated to 300 lbs.

I have a guy I see who does ART in addition to chiro. He is worth his weight in gold, and really understands how to work with athletes (he's worked in with NFL teams and still does at times). If you can find a good chiro/ART specialist it will be worth it.
