Hi yall. I just found this forum, this is great lots of information here. I have a strange problem with my chest. I was born with something called pectus, its something to do with a bone in the chest being messed up. To fix it they go in and add a metal bar or small plate, I had this done when I was 3. Where the plate is in is fine, its lower on my chest but my upper chest is strange. Big collar bone for some reason, always had it. Not sure if it is from the surgery I would imagine it must be. I have been working out for about 2 years now, but only seriously keeping a journal and trying to eat right(though I have trouble sticking with that, I know thats not good) for about a year now.
I actually like being skinny, and dont want to get very big, If I could put on 10 or 15 pounds id be happy. My chest though has always bothered me. I have increased my flat bench press a good bit sense I started. My working sets have gone from around 4 to 5 sets at 95 to 105 up to now 3 to 5 sets at 130 to 135 for my heaviest sets. I can see an improvement in my chest, but its mostly the lower and outer. Is there a way I can build up the inner and upper part to catch up to the rest? I would be greatful for any help. Heres some pics.
This one is relaxed, you can clearly see the problem. My chest is small already, but my large collar bone makes it look even worse.
Heres one flexing, looking at it to me it looks like my chest is under developed. I just cant seem to get it out there, it seems cut, i can see the fibers in it when I flex. Down the middle though theres not as much seperation as I would like, and the upper part is probally the worst.
Just stick to the basics and as your whole chest gets bigger the inner upper will get bigger with it. You would be wasting your time trying to isolate a certain part of your chest.

If you're not happy with your progress with Barbell Presses, try dumbell presses. Since I switched I've been very happy with the progress. But the other guys are right, as your muscles mature your chest will fill out. Dont forget to do incline presses as well, I think it is good for tieing in your chest with your shoulder development.
oh, yeah. You wont put on any muscle at all if you dont eat right. you do eat dont you? Take in some more complex carbs ie. sweet potatoes and oatmeal. Good luck!
I agree with above, continue to progress and you will see growth, as long as you are eating enough. In your situation i think that is going to make the biggest difference. When I gain weight my collor bone area always fills in quickly. You will be much happier about your chest if you put on 15 pounds.

youve got no body fat. you need to start eating more,and start doing power lifts, put some meat on ya
