The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Month break from weight training & muscle mass loss?

    Hi,

I need to take a month off from weight training due to a rotator cuff sprain/partial tear (not a result of weight training but an accident) and will be doing physical therapy 3 x week for the next few weeks. I am also allowed to run/jog, swim, and do abs until I complete therapy.

I assume that since I will not be doing my normal weight training routine (8 hours a week), that I need to cut on my calorie and protein intake? Will swimming help me maintain muscle tone? I just don't want to lose too much muscle size/tone as I have been training very hard the last 15 months.

    Thanks.

Perhaps a litte. I wouldn't go below maintenance though.

    Yes.

The only thing I'll add is to be patient and don't give into the temptation to rush it.
Because if you re-injure yourself, you're going to be out of commission a LOT longer than one month the second time.

I don't understand why you would cut calories? keep your food levels the same, maybe even more to help with recovery.
