The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Wednesday 3/30/11 Bwt: 240
Floor Press against greens (roughly 40-50 lb of tension at top)
    PR=270
    bar + bands x 10x2
    135x10
    185x3
    205x3
    225x2
    245x2
    255x1
    275x1
    285x1 15 LB PR!
    245x2
    245x2
    245x2

    nosebreakers
    105x10
    115x10
    135x8

    vbar pressdowns 3x12

    seated db oh press 60x12x4

    db shrugs 100x12x3

    bent over flyes
    20x12x2
    25x10

And out of the blue comes a PR! It couldn't come at a better time, I was starting to question and analyze everything, driving my self nuts about the recent loss of strength. The whole number thing is just so unpredictable, I guess consistancy and perseverance are really the keys. I reviewed my log to pin point the loss of strength in the bottom end of my bench stroke (off the chest) and I noticed I have not done any heavy db flat presses in a month so I am thinking this could be the culprit. I usually look to go no longer than a couple weeks so I will definately get some of those in on Sunday.

No other way around it man, you got to be doggedly persistent in this game before seeing results.

Going for more volume today as opposed to true max effort. I am going to try and up my volume slowly when not training in gear over the next few months. I will gear up once a month, maybe more for the squat as I try to learn the multi ply stuff. Still trying to save the bread for a new Phenom and as soon as I get that I will probably have to shirt more than once a month to learn it also.

db flat bench has definately fell off a bit and I suspected that was the culprit for the weakness off the chest of late. Shirt was tight as hell today, I feel I am putting more size on recently.

Sorry I haven't check in here man, I guess it just got lost in my subscriptions somewhere, definitely have it back on there and will stay up to date. Past work looks solid, consistency is the hardest part for me, and it sucks not being consistent from time to time, but ya know the results will come.

Probably was good for about 640-650 with this gear setup. The main problem i am having is my bar is flexing pretty bad so getting it back in the monolift saddle is tough. Probably going to need a mastadon bar real soon, I guess that is a good problem to have. My depth seemed high to me but my wife said it didn't look so bad. Gonna active deload next week and my body is screamin for it. The best news is my computer is finally back up!

I'd look at a texas squat bar, or even a good texas power bar. I think the texas power bar would be good for 800 with little to no flex and it doesn't cost nearly as much. I've always heard a mastodon isn't necessary unless you're squatting 900+

Yeah I've heard good things about the Texas power bar. I also need to get a new bench shirt soon to start learning it. Decisions, decisions!

Massage today so skipped session to recovery from the deep tissue work. Feels nice to actually to turn my head like normal again. I had some serious knots in my upper back trap area from the extra work I've been puttin in. Back at it tomorrow.
