The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

20 Pound PR and I did it twice. Had someone watch depth and had him give a up command when I reached just below parallel. Ascent felt quick considering the weight. Will do more in time After watching the Elite FTS videos on GHDs, I gave them a go this week with only body weight. Should I be feeling this in my entire posterior chain (erectors included)? Regardless, I enjoy these much more than ball curls...lol. Really excited for the future.

Sully: I actually quite disappointed. Haha. I can't imagine you with a "brotastic" session. Thanks for the words, it really did feel like I was making strides towards progression.

Terry: Thanks! I felt like falling over after. Haha.

Nick: Hey man, I have you to thank for helping me!

    Nice box jumping. Very impressive.

Sweet squat too. No one just jumps 20lbs in one shot!

Fantastic lower body session man! We're really close on the squats now. It's been good fun following along with somebody at the same kind of level. Really enjoying the journal aspect of WBB atm, I should get involved in more...

You're flying ahead of me on upper-body tho!

Terry: Definitely going to bust out the hundos next week.
JC: I still see issues with my upper body days (more my bench) but I'm gonna remedy that with rows.
Brian: Thanks. My volume has always been a topic of concern for me. Some days I look at what I'm doing and ask myself, "is this too much?" - perhaps this is another case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

    indeed boring.

increase weight or reps, add bands, do them chest supported face down on an incline bench, supinate them, etc.. plenty of different ways to mix them up.

+80 lbs of force (@30 inches) acting on my pulls. Last time I tried 405 and 415, I missed on both with bands. Got both this week. In comparison to the last time I pulled against bands, today, I pulled MUCH more volume (additional 13 total reps). DB Bulgarian lunges were my forearm exercise for the week. Might have just done a farmer's walk with all that gripping. Fun day.

I noticed you're tracking the weeks and the sets/reps are very structured. What kind of program is this?

How are you finding the push press? Do you still do the regular press?

One of my strategies for improving my terrible overhead press was doing a lot more push press. It was sort of working, but I haven't been consistent enough on it lately.

    Terry: Thanks!

Patz: It's still a hybrid right now...I'm trying to swim away from the hypertrophy part of this program and focus more on intensity and effort for main lifts. At the moment, my deadlift, bench, and squat have no real set/rep structure. I do a few warm up sets, then lift triples-singles for ME. The sequential workouts that follow are just accessory work.

JC: I enjoy push press. I do strict presses from time to time, but I feel like I can explode more with push press. It helps for volume.

Tim: Thanks and welcome back! Are we gonna see a journal revival?
