The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

So after some thought after today's workout, I came with the following conclusion: my previous doubled Monster-Mini DE bench turns out to have been just heavier RE work. 155 w/o bands felt A LOT quicker and explosive. The bands helped out the lockout, but I feel if I am to do true DE bench with bands...I'll have to go much lighter in the future.

So a quick review of the Merrell Road Gloves I bought over the weekend: They are bad ass for squatting and deadlifting. If you want a solid flat foot shoe, def try these. Granted, you will have to fork over $110 for them, but I see it as not having to buy new fucking Chucks every time my sides rip. These are a true barefoot shoe w/o the awkwardness of the five-toe design. They really hug your instep and mold to the natural curvature of your foot. If you are to size yourself up, I recommend finding a retailer that has a big selection as each Merrell shoe has their own feel (the road gloves were IMO the flattest and had a pretty stiff sole) and allowing adequate space for your toes (you don't want to touch the fronts when you walk/run)

Pretty good investment. From people that I know that own a pair, they have lasted for one-two years; substantially trumping the lifetime of any Chuck Taylors I've bought.

Interesting on the shoes. Never heard of anyone wearing that kind before. I have the cheap payless shoes version of chuck taylors that cost $20. Still use them 3 and a half years later even though the bottom is almost gone still use them to squat and pull and feels fine lol. At least it's not ripping apart yet.

Hayden: I took a page from the school of Kroc Rows.
Terry: That last session is definitely felt today.
April: The problem with my Chucks is that they always ripped in the midsole/canvas area. Whenever I would squat, my feet would have the desire to fall out of the shoe.

    looks good my man.

I read something the other day in regards to DE days, they call it the 3-2-1 principle... or something like that. 3 bench,2 squat, 1 deadlift; reference for the # of reps to use on DE day with the associated lift.

Then again, I guess they box squat and speed deadlift every DE day; box squat first. Don't know if you visit the westside website, so I figured I'd share. I'm about to switch to this setup.

What is this slingshot? Is it a new type of thing you add to complement a bench shirt? Or just to use by itself? Looks like the equivalent of knee wraps for the bench.

Cards: XL. I weighed in at 190 today.
Bako: It's similar, I suppose. I've never benched with a shirt, so I don't know how to compare the two. From my use this week, it basically expands at the bottom and contracts at the top, which helps propel your lift. the way it's built tucks your elbows in more as well.
