    I love it.

I'm studying overseas right now, so my life has been filled with gallons of alcohol, parties, trips, week long vacations and eating crap all day. Despite that, my gains have been steadily going up thanks to 5-3-1.

My problem was that I overthought things and 5-3-1 basically eliminates all of that overthinking.

Generally, if you read a piece of advice on the internet, assume it's wrong until proven otherwise. This applies especially to "conventional wisdom". -Belial

is it true that it would be bad to work out more than two days in a row? I work at a golds gym thursday nights and would prefer lifting Monday-Thursday then resting on friday-sunday.

You can workout two days in a row as long as you split upper/lower. I do press/deads monday tues then wednesday off then I go back thurs/fri for bench/squats. I have been good gains on the program.

I love it. I've been on it over 17 months now I think, and my lifts have sky rocketed. Not necessarily the fastest gains out there, but they are consistent an sustainable which is why I love this program.

Here's a snipit of my progress from a while ago
    PROGRESS: 8/2009 to 5/2010

I've been in CO for a year now, time to reflect on training over the last year or so. Looked up some numbers from 8/2009 and man, i've made progress.

Previous lifts (8/2009), all at around same bodyweight (~190lbs)
    Squats: 285x9, estimated 1RM: 370
    Bench: 225x7, estimated 1RM: 278
    Press: 135x7, estimated 1RM: 170
    Deadlift:430x5, estimated 1RM: 507

Current Lifts (within last few months, before back went to hell)
    Squats: 335x8, estimated 1RM: 425
    Bench: 255x6, estimated 1RM: 306
    Press: 175x6, estimated 1RM: 210
    Deadlift:475x5, estimated 1RM: 555 (also my true 1RM)

So in 7 months, at the same bodyweight and 100% natural, i've put roughly:
    55lbs on my squat
    30lbs on my bench
    40lbs on my OH press
    50 lbs on my DL

These are great resuts and very inspiring to me . I CANNOT wait to get 100% healed and back into this game.

    Rock on dudes
