The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I had the pleasure of seeing this in person. Im the guy running the rack in the video, I have never been that nervous before. With all the talk of how he kept getting pulled forward by the rack at York I was really worried I was going to f-up on that big squat. The video really does not do this feat any justice, Im glad I made the trip down to train and learn these last few weeks. Donnie is the strongest person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and he is one helluva coach to boot. I wish I had a side video that one of the other guys took. The 1165 was the deepest squat I have ever seen in a canvas suit. I owe allot to him and Spud for all the help they have both given me. Don should make history this coming week.

I hope he gets a big lift in. Donnies not only super strong but hes a nice guy thats always friendly to anyone at a meet. If he utilizes a depth call hell be fine and hit a big lift. All the times I have seen him take big lifts at YORK he just went by feel. With a depth call from a honest training partner Donnie will hit a huge lift.

    good luck to him

Awesome show of strength!!! I meet Donnie at the Mayhem APF meet in SC, back in July and he is a super nice guy.

I think he got robbed on the 1255lb. squat back this summer so it would be great to see him hit the big number! (1300lb.)

Do you mean in 3ply? I don't see why depth out of a monolift is impressive.

I helped Donnie out at a meet he was hosting back in 2009. The topic of the day was going after 3,000. Its pretty damned funny hearing him talk about it...

"So, what are you going to squat?"

    "Something heavy!" - Donnie

"Your deadlift sucks. What are you planning for your deadlift?"

"Whatever number I need to hit 3,000! I always pull whatever I need to!" - Donnie

Even though Donnie looks a bit scary, he is a genuinely great guy. Best of luck to Donnie! SHW!

Yeah he never gets the credit he deserves for his pull. He has pulled 832 years ago at the WPO. I was talking with him last week I would expect him to pull a low 8 at this meet. Maybe 1260, 940, 800. He told me when he went 2905 he had tore his groin in training an completely tore it trying to pull his second or third deadlift attempt. I also asked him about pulling raw, he told me there was no way he could get to the bar in a suit. I can wait to hear what he does this weekend.

either way I was nervous just watching, 1300lbs is an insane amount for one human being to move....I would have been nervous just being a spotter
