The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Day Fifty Six

Went down the gym for a quick - and I mean quick - blast. No energy today, still drained from yesterday.

    Bench:

    20x44
    6x132
    6x154
    6x154 x2x2x2

    Hammer Curls:

    6x33
    6x39
    6x44

    Dips:

    6xBW
    6xBW+33
    3xBW+66
    1xBW+66

Felt good on the way to and from the gym - managed to rewire up one of my motorbikes today and took it for a spin there and back. That's that bike out of the living room at last, haha!

Got two, mate - a Honda H100S (little 100cc two-stroke) and a Kawasaki GPX750R (a ballistic missile on wheels). They were both stolen recently, but I got them back off the thieving scumbags and am in the process of fixing the damage they did.

Thanks OR. Lifting was a kind of 'show my face' session today. Every little helps though. Dinner was awesome. Got a litre of chocolate milk and the MotoGP to keep me company now, hehe.

    Cheers mate!

Here's a photo of us on our walk on Saturday, just as we're entering Nottinghamshire.

And this is what was giving us the 'motivation' to keep going, haha!

Hehe, it's pretty nice living in Nottingham at times. Not only is it a decent sized town with all the restaurants, shops, cinemas etc, but it's also got a lot of history to it. We ended the night in Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem - which lays claim to being the oldest pub in England.

My friend Poland (the ginger one in the blue coat) made us laugh with an anecdote. He was having a look around Nottingham Castle (Ye Olde Trip pub is built into the side of the hill beneath the castle) when an American tourist came up to him.

She asked 'Are there any nice, historic local pubs around here?'

'There's one a hundred feet directly beneath your feet, as a matter of fact!'

'Oh fantastic! Is it an old one though? I want a real taste of the historic.'

'Put it this way', he said, 'it's 600 years older than your country...'

    Day Fifty Six

Not sure whether to count this as a day or not. Awful workout.

Went in there wanting to do Deadlifts, Leg Press and Calf Raise. Ended up doing just deadlifts and not very well at them either.

    Deadlift:

    10x66
    10x88
    6x220
    6x309
    2x335

Just really, REALLY didn't have any strength today. After those first two reps, the 335lb DLs just felt absolutely welded to the floor. Felt pretty dejected after that.

Gave me a little bit of a wake up call though. I think I'm at the point now, strength-wise, where if I want to continue making big strength gains (ie getting up to 4plate DL, 3plate squat and 2plate Bench) then I'd have to REALLY up the eating and start getting the calories in.

But with me already umming and arring about whether I feel comfortable with my physique atm, that's not gonna happen right now. And wishy-washying it as I am will just have me spinning my wheels, not getting any stronger but still staying the same shape.

So I've come to a decision - I'm DEFINITELY doing a cut. My thinking is that I can make a bigger difference to my physique over the next few weeks than I can make progress in strength, whilst giving myself a bit of an ego boost in the meantime by getting 'teh abz' back.

I'm sure that with the guidance of some of the very experienced cutters on this board (looking at you Behemoth et al) I could get myself down to 10%, then spring back into making strength gains again afterwards, this time keeping a closer eye on my BF%, so that at least when I stall next time on lifting, I can easily just up the calories a little bit without worrying too much about my shape.

You guys ought to be proud of your country side, great beauty and history. Good luck cutting man (if you don't mind me asking, what is your real name - I didn't catch it if you mentioned it before).

Hey Coke, cheers - I'm hoping just a quick six-week cut will do me, but we'll see how it goes.
