The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Oh aye, the macros are good - thanks to you! I was just laughing at the fact my carbs came in at exactly the same (to the tenth of a gram) as my protein.

Thanks mate. Doing this cut made me take a closer look at some of the things I've been eating the last few months. Canned meatballs that I've been regularly eating are rammed full of fat. Same with a few other things. Now I know lower fat alternatives, so hopefully when it comes to being in a calorie surplus again I'll be putting less fat on while making gains.

I actually feel better on a cut than on a bulk, except for the weird cravings ofcourse . I have less indegestion, more stable energy levels etc.

Same here, mate! Been feeling full of energy. And I think the fact that I've switched over to the shorter HCT-12 sessions means it not impacting on my training either.

I'm happy with how it's going. From my uber-scientific ascertainment of my bf% (ie looking in the mirror each morning) I think I'll only need another 3/4 weeks until I'm happy with my appearance.

My belly is now FLAT for the first time in a coupla months and I've started to get ab outlines, at least the lines on either side anyway.

    Day Sixty One

    Bench:

    20x44
    6x88
    6x132
    6x182 x2x2x2 PR

    Dips:

    6xBW
    6xBW
    6xBW+33
    6xBW+44 x2x2x2

    Curlzz:

    6x33
    6x39
    6x44 x2x2x2

    --------------
    Summary:

PR on the bench! Only by 5lbs, but still, it's nice for it to move. Felt very heavy though, really didn't think I'd make the last rep of workset. Clusters flew up though.

Dips were a real struggle. Dunno whether it's because I'm doing them immediately after bench now (on the other HCT-12 routine I had a coupla other exercises between bench and dips).

Was starving hungry after the gym, so we went to the pub next door for lunch. Had the afternoon deal fish and chips... didn't realise till after that it's 1000kcals... Lesson learned. Will have to rejig my meal tonight in order to not die of starvation overnight...

    Cheers Coke!

Made up for my Fish n Chips blunder by having a whole can of tuna atop lettuce and carrots with a little bit of cottage cheese.

Diet stats for the day ended up at:

    Cals:2296 Fats:86.1 Carbs:137.8 Protein: 237.7

The fats were higher than I wanted, cos of all the batter on the fish and the chips cooked in fat (fries for you yank types.... only much thicker and manlier). Not gonna eat out tomorrow, so will be able to rein the fat back in to 60/70ish and get my carbs up a little.

I have many days like the one you've described. You went about it the right way, just try to make up for it in some way or another. You can still stay with the diet and "explore" a bit at times. Unless you have a set time table that you need to lean out by, then I believe it's ok to go out here and there.

Your macro's look very good by the way.

Could you post a day of what you eat, I'm just curious as to how many meals you have and what you eat. I noticed that you were starting your fats off higher, with carbs falling right in and getting in 200 grams of protein.

It's a random question, but are your meals usually balanced between proteins, fats, and carbohydrates? Or do you try to go with meals that consist of mainly proteins and fats or proteins and carbs?

I know I try to follow either a P+F or P+C diet plan. I've found it to work well for me, while I minimize my fats throughout the day, but I may have 1-2 higher fat meals even on a higher carb day.
