Had the funeral today. My stepdad was a great man and so there was a huge turnout. Weather was great for the wake, so ended up drinking a lot. Still drinking now lol. But back on it tomorrow with a huge squat session.
Had a great catch up with my cousin today, who's quite a big powerlifter. He benched 180kg (400lb) the other day and is aiming for 300kg deadlift in a few weeks. And he's not even the strongest person in his group of mates, who're all natural.
Soon as I start working this summer (finishing my second year of uni in a few weeks, working for a year before final year), I'm gonna cancel my subscription at my crappy commercial gym and start training with my cousin.
Solid plan Gazzy! That'll definitely motivate you training with a group with that much strength!

Been looking at the results from previous comps and I'd like the following for myself:
Squat and DL I could easily see myself reaching in the time I have. Currently at 130kg and 160kg, respectively.
Bench is the one I'm worried about. I'm currently at 90kg (I did manage 100kg once, but it wasn't pretty and I won't count it). It's always been a slow mover for me.
I'm gonna continue on HCT-12 as I didn't really give the new, lower-volume routine much time on a bulk, as I started cutting pretty soon after starting this new routine. I'm hoping I'll bounce back pretty quickly from my cut and get strong soon. Hoping to have a good squat session tonight. Leaving it till after dinner, so will have plenty of energy.
Had no strength. Bit perplexed, as I made sure to eat a lot today, even had 100g of carbs an hour before my workout. But still, nothing. Then I remembered the fact that I've hardly been eating/sleeping all week and had about ten beers yesterday.
I'm not too dismayed. I remember when I went on holiday a few months ago; I came back and had lost all my strength. Then the very next week I was setting PRs all over the place.
Gonna eat, sleep, train and once my body's recovered I know the PRs'll start flying in once again.
Blame it on the alcohol, lol...way to be at it with solo focus on the squats.

Kudos on getting to the gym, some days your muscles just don't seem to work, I know the feeling lol....Still a very solid squat workout though! I like the goals you have set for the meet too, they seem very realistic for you but will still keep you pushing yourself hard.
You could always do the 30lbs on your bench in 30 days program to get your bench up for the meet. Squat and deadlift shouldnt be a problem as you said.
Eat sleep train... That'll fix it

Aches and pains from the cut are slowly starting to go. I know my strength will explode by the end of the week. I'm looking forward to it. Next in on Tuesday, it's Deadlift day.
Went to watch Thor last night. Was quite pleased with it, as I went in all set to be disappointed. Was also impressed with the main actor, Chris Hemsworth. He'd put alot of work into his physique for the role and it showed.
Just seen Thor was bloody good! No idea how that chap developed such a physique in '3 months' which he supposedly put on 20lbs.

Good session Gazzy. I'm going to go see Thor once I finish my finals, I was reading on another website that the main actor was following a 5x5 program for the "bulk phase' and than he did a cut phase with a ton of kettlebell work. Looks like it worked out pretty damn well for him.

Your body will take a while to get used to having loads of calories again, probably make you lethargic and therefore feel weaker. Keep at it.
